Numbness: Wind-damp-heat pathogens sink into the Yin aspect of the Blood level, obstructing the pathway of Yang Qi. There are also cases where Phlegm resides in the Blood level.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Shao Yao (Peony Root), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Huang [missing character, likely referring to a warming herb or typo for Huangqi/Huanglian contextually but kept as is] (assists Yang pathway), Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Fu Ling (Poria). [To drain damp-heat]. Chuan Gui Dang (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [to circulate Yin]. If there is Phlegm, add Er Chen Tang (Two-Cured Decoction).
Gout: Blood stagnates and generates heat over time; upon contracting cold and being exposed to dampness, circulation fails, resulting in pain. Pain worsens at night because the pathology moves through the Yin aspects. There are also cases where Blood deficiency and Phlegm chase each other along the meridians causing pain up and down.
Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen), Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) [originally should be Fu Ling], Cao Long Dan (Gentianae Radix).
If the condition is upper and wind-related, add Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) and Wei Ling Xian (Saposhnikoviae Radix) in double dosage, and Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) in single dosage.
If the condition is lower and damp-related, add Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Fang Ji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis), and Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) in double dosage.
If Blood deficient, add Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) and Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), assisted by Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) and Hong Hua (Carthami Flos).
If Qi deficient, add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), supplemented with Bai Gui Ban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum dried/fried).
If Phlegm exists, add Nan Xing (Arisaematis Rhizoma Preparatum).
Lockjaw (Tetanus): Wind generates heat.
Wind attacks the wound and spreads through the meridians; the presentation resembles malaria. Treatment follows the principles of Cold Damage (Shang Han).
If the pulse is floating and weak, it indicates Taiyang syndrome; induce sweating to cure.
If the pulse is long and forceful, it indicates Yangming syndrome; purge to cure.
If the pulse is floating and wiry, it indicates Shaoyang syndrome; harmonize to cure.
Constipation, red urine, and profuse sweating indicate interior pathology; purge rapidly. A deep pulse indicates interior pathology; use Cheng Qi Tang (Ordering the Qi Decoction) to purge.
For spasms twitching backward, use Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root).
For spasms twitching forward, use Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root).
For spasms twitching to both sides, use Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root). For twitching to the right side, add Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix).
Leprosy (Li Feng): Blood heat coagulates, causing turbid Qi. Predominant symptoms appearing first on the upper body indicate Qi involvement; predominant symptoms appearing first on the lower body indicate Blood involvement. Use strong purgatives such as Zui Xian San (Intoxicating Immortal Powder), Zai Zao San (Recreation Powder), Hua Pi San (Birch Bark Powder), Qi Sheng San (Seven Sages Powder), or Qi Xuan San (Seven Circulation Powders).
Zui Xian San: Treats conditions located above.
Gua Lou Gen (Trichosanthis Radix), Ku Shen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix), Man Jing Zi (Viticis Fructus), Hu Ma Zi (Sesami Fructus), Niu Bang Zi (Arctii Fructus), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gou Qi Zi (Lycii Fructus), Bai Ji Li (Tribuli Fructus).
Grind the above into powder (1.5 qian), mix with Qing Fen (Calomel, 2 qian). Take orally on an empty stomach and before sleep with tea. Continue until intoxication-like state occurs and foul-smelling matter is discharged.
Zai Zao San: Treats conditions located below.
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1.5 qian), Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, 1 qian). Burn fresh Zao Jiao to ash, take with cold wine. Continue until parasites/worms are completely expelled.
Da Feng Fang (Great Wind Prescription): Modify arbitrarily according to circumstances.
