Schisandrae Fructus (Liuzhongzi) (6 liang), Cynomorii Herba (Roucongrong) (4 liang, soaked in wine, baked), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi) (3 liang, soaked in wine), Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma (Shanyao) (2 liang), Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum (Lurong) (1 liang, roasted with butter until thorough), Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi) (2 liang, stir-fried), Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Changpu) (1 liang, baked), Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie) (1 liang, de-haired), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi) (1 liang, washed with wine), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shudi) (1 liang, prepared with wine), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen) (1 liang, de-rhizome), Resina Burserae (Ruxiang) (1 liang, separately ground), Resina Myrrhae (Moyao) (5 qian, separately ground), Lycii Fructus (Gouqizi) (1 liang), Foeniculi Fructus (Dahuai) (2 liang, stir-fried), Rubi Fructus (Fupenzi) (1 liang), Halloysit Rubrum (Chishizhi) (1 liang), Phlomis Radix (Digupi) (2 liang), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren) (1 liang, skin and tips removed), Corni Fructus (Shanzhuyu) (2 liang, seeds removed), Platycladi Semen (Baiziren) (1 liang), Zanthoxyli Pericarpium (Chuanjiao) (7 qian, eyes removed, stir-fried closed), Toosendan Fructus (Chuanlianrou) (1 liang, stir-fried), Polygalae Radix (Yuanzhi) (1 liang, de-heart), Os Draconis (Longgu) (5 qian), Poria (Baifuling) (1 liang, skin removed).
The above thirty-two ingredients are ground into fine powder, mixed with refined honey to make pills the size of wutong seeds. Take thirty pills each time on an empty stomach, administered with salt water or salted wine.
Placenta Hominis (Ziheche) (one unit, using male first-term placenta, washed with rice wash water, baked), Testudo Carapax et Plastrum (Baiguiban) (2 liang, soaked in child's urine for seven days, roasted with butter until thorough), Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai) (1.5 liang, bark removed, stir-fried with salt and wine), Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong) (1.5 liang, bark removed, roasted with butter until tendons break), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi) (1.2 liang, sprouts removed, soaked in wine and sun-dried), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdihuang) (4 liang, placed with 6 qian of Amomi Fructus powder and 2 liang of Poria in a thin silk bag, boiled dry in a clay vessel, adding wine seven times).
The above powders, along with the Rehmannia, are pounded extremely uniformly in a yellow stone mortar. Form pills the size of wutong seeds using wine and rice paste. Administer on an empty stomach and before bed with salt water or plain water; in winter, administer with wine.
Alternative formula: Add 1 liang of Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen); in summer, add 5 qian of Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi). For women taking it, add 2 liang of Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui).
Preparation method for Placenta Hominis (Ziheche): First wash with rice wash water, gently unfold the placenta, change and wash five times without disturbing the fascia, which contains the primordial qi. Place entirely in a bamboo container, soak in running water for one quarter-hour to absorb vital energy, remove, place entirely in a small earthenware basin, and steam slowly in a wooden steamer until thoroughly cooked like paste. Remove, pour out the natural juice into the herbal powder, mix slightly evenly; this is the Tianyuan Zhengqi juice. Place the placenta in a stone mortar, pound with a wooden pestle one thousand times until paste-like. Mix thoroughly with the previous herbal juice and powder, then pound another thousand-plus strokes. Roll into pills collectively by hand. This preserves the Tianyuan primordial qi; using human to supplement human is most excellent. Few people know this; using fire baking, wine boiling, or removing fascia is a major error.
