1. In the treatment of injuries, one must first clearly identify the acupoint locations. If the acupoints are not clear, the treatment will be erroneous. Therefore, a general figure of human acupoints and the complete bone measurement chart from the *Ling Shu Jing* (Spiritual Pivot) have been drawn for learners' reference.
2. The length and width of human bones have specific measurements. The ancient manuscript of the bone measurements from the *Ling Shu Jing* has been illustrated to facilitate acupuncture and moxibustion measurement. The method uses the "middle finger proportional cun" (Zhongzhi Tongshen Cun) as the standard.
3. There are numerous acupoints in the human body, and a single acupoint may have multiple names, making them difficult to distinguish. Therefore, following the human figures in *Xi Yuan Lu* (Collected Cases of Injustice Rectified), illustrations have been made to easily differentiate between fatal and non-fatal areas.
4. In cases of joint dislocation or bone fracture, the bones and joints are enclosed within the muscles, making them difficult to discern from the outside, which risks error. Thus, clear drawings based on skeletal charts have been provided to distinguish the shape of the joints and the form of the bones. During clinical practice, even though the bones are hidden within the muscles, their shapes can be thoroughly understood. Learners can further clarify these details by carefully examining dry skeletons.
5. Instruments are fabricated for injury treatment to assist manual techniques in achieving success. Diagrams of the applicable instruments are also provided so that learners can establish standards by following the models.
6. There are many bone charts for various parts of the body, which may be difficult to memorize. Therefore, their annotations have been compiled into a single section. By reciting and memorizing this, learners will achieve clarity in mind and vision.
7. Treating injuries requires understanding pulse patterns, which must be cross-referenced with symptoms to avoid mistakes. A brief overview is presented here; for precision, one must consult detailed pulse diagnosis manuals.
8. The thirty-six rules incorporate the essence of the *Zheng Gu Xin Fa* (Heart Method of Bone Setting) and combine it with practical experience passed down through generations, organized into clauses. This allows learners to read them thoroughly and grasp the essentials of symptom management and treatment methods.
9. All prescriptions used within the thirty-six rules are based on clinical experience. However, since there are many decoction ingredients and names, making them hard to remember, they have been summarized into rhyming verses (ge jue) for easier recitation.
10. The compiled verses do not strictly adhere to tonal patterns and rhyme schemes due to the constraints imposed by prescription and herb names, which makes alteration difficult.
At the end, various prescriptions are appended, collected from secret formulas of different orthopedic schools. Although untested by the author, they are not deleted arbitrarily, to allow discerning practitioners to select those suitable for use.
Additionally, effective emergency rescue formulas are included for immediate application, aiming to broaden the learner's perspective and facilitate compassionate practice.
