Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Han Shui Shi (Calcitum) (each 5 qian), Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian).
Grind into fine powder, mix with rice water, and take orally.
This formula is similar to Chen Sha Yi Yuan San (Cinnabar Yi Yuan Powder); use according to available materials. During summer months, taking Sheng Mai San (Generate the Pulse Powder) together with this formula is excellent.
If the vomitus or stool is green, it indicates injury from cold milk; Yi Yuan San (Yi Yuan Powder) is the primary formula. (See notes under Bao Yuan Tang below for the formula.)
If there is vomiting and diarrhea accompanied by drowsiness with eyes half-open (exposing the eyeballs), this is due to deficiency-heat in the Stomach; Qian Shi Bai Zhu San (Child's Atractylodes Macrocephala Powder) is the primary formula.
If there is drowsiness with eyes tightly closed, this is due to excess-heat in the Stomach; Chen Sha Yi Yuan San (Cinnabar Yi Yuan Powder) is the primary formula.
Chen Sha Yi Yuan San (Cinnabar Yi Yuan Powder)
Hua Shi (Talcum) (6 qian), Chen Sha (Cinnabaris) (1 qian), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian), Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) (stir-fried, 1 qian).

If vomiting is sudden and severe, or if diarrhea presents undigested food, it indicates severe wind invasion (as Wind-Wood invades Spleen-Earth). Add Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) each 7 fen, and Qing Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) 3 fen to Yi Yuan San (Yi Yuan Powder) and take orally. This formula has clearing and calming properties, specifically treating vomiting and diarrhea, extremely effective.
If there is chronic vomiting of milk, drooping eyelids, and foul stools containing membrane-like substances, this is caused by nursing during parental conception, named "Jiao Qing Tu Nai" (Intercourse-induced Milk Vomiting); Yi Huang San (Yellow Protection Powder) is the primary formula. (See Bao Yuan Tang entry for the formula.)
My grandson, at age seven, ate several sheng of purple peaches, causing abdominal distension like a drum. Soon after, he vomited violently, then drank half a bowl of white porridge. He vomited out several sheng again. Within a short time, he had major vomiting five or six times, his complexion turned dark blue-black, and his hands and feet convulsed, resembling impending slow convulsive disease. Urgently decocted 1 qian of Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) mixed with 1 fen of Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis) and administered. It was vomited immediately upon entering the mouth; we continued administering after each vomit. Total intake: 1 liang 2 qian of Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) and 1 qian of Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis), after which vomiting barely stopped. Subsequently, continuous drinking of Ginseng tea led to gradual recovery and revival. Thus, he was completely restored. Now grown up, without the power of Ginseng and Calves' Calculus, how could his life have been preserved? Families raising young children must prepare Ginseng and Calves' Calculus to rescue those dying prematurely.
If a child sits upright too early, leading to weak Stomach Qi sinking, resulting in frequent dysentery and diarrhea, add Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (wine-fried) and Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) (stir-fried) each 7 fen, and Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) 3 fen to Bao Yuan Tang (Protect the Origin Decoction) and take orally.
If stool color varies between blue, white, and yellow froth unpredictably, this is Gan Li (Malnutrition Dysentery). Zhi Sheng Wan (Supreme Sage Pill) is the primary formula, or it can be made into a decoction taken warm.

Form pills using Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven paste).
For red dysentery with pus and blood, abdominal pain, use Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) and Bai Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (wine-fried) each 1.5 qian, Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 1 qian.
For deficiency-type slippery incontinence, Gu Chang Wan (Intestine Consolidating Pill) is the primary formula. Chu Gen Bai Pi (Stemonae Radix Bark) (baked dry, powdered), form pills with congee, size of Cannabis Seed.
Another method: For chronic long-standing diarrhea/dysentery, mix aged Medicated Leaven powder with clear water, take on an empty stomach in the morning. (Especially effective for bloody dysentery.)
For white dysentery, Yi Yuan San (Yi Yuan Powder) is the primary formula. For weak children, take mixed with Ginseng tea.
For mixed red and white dysentery, or passage of pus and blood resembling rotten meat juice, Huang Lian E Jiao Wan (Coptis and Gelatin Pill) is the primary formula.

If accompanied by vomiting, add Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) (crushed, stir-fried) and Huo Xiang (Agastaches Herba) (wine-washed) each 3-4 fen.
If there is heat in the head with vomiting but cold feet, or heat in the head with diarrhea but cold feet, this is a sign of Spleen Wind; Bu Pi Yi Zhen Tang (Tonify Spleen and Benefit True Decoction) is the primary formula.
Generally, vomiting and diarrhea should be treated as deficiency-heat, primarily using Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) as main ingredients. For summer dysentery and summer diarrhea, use glutinous rice half raw and half cooked, add more than ten Di Long (Pheretima) to Huang Tu Water (yellow earth water), boil thoroughly, strain, and drink; this is excellent. Mixing with clear water is also acceptable.
When pediatric diarrhea is severe and persists for over a month, with muscle wasting making it difficult to save, roast a de-shelled river snail and administer it; the diarrhea will stop. Taking it raw treats diarrhea-induced muscle wasting; it is a divine prescription for infants.
For infants, adults, and the elderly suffering from red and white dysentery/diarrhea, Hai Yi (Cypraea Tigris Shell) fine powder mixed with clear water is effective.
For diarrhea/dysentery, use Ren Dong Teng (Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis) (stir-fried, skin removed), two handfuls approximately 2 cun long, plus seven jujubes. Decoct strongly, mix with clear water, and take orally.

By promoting diuresis to leach out dampness, the diarrhea stops naturally.
For red and white dysentery, Dog Head Marrow (Canis Cranium Medulla) and fresh pear juice, mixed raw and taken with clear water, is excellent.
