For patients with epilepsy who do not exhibit symptoms such as staring blankly or appearing foolish, administer San Sheng San (Three Holy Powder) to induce vomiting. Simultaneously, place a fire basin in a warm room to facilitate the concurrent application of the sweating, purgative, and emetic methods. Subsequently, administer Tong Sheng San (Unsurpassed Dispersion Decoction). The condition will be cured after more than one hundred days. However, if the patient exhibits staring eyes and foolishness, it is incurable. *Huangdi Neijing* (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states: "Shen (Spirit) cannot maintain its residence," referring to mental confusion.
For wealthy individuals consuming rich and greasy foods who suffer from malaria, which may occur every other day, frequently daily, manifesting as heat, chills, predominantly cold with little heat, or predominantly heat with little cold, Da Chai Hu Tang (Major Bupleurum Decoction) should be used for purgation. After three to five doses of purgation, subsequently administer formulas such as Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction), Yu Lu San (Jade Dew Powder), or Gui Ling Gan Lu San (Cinnamon Twig, Poria, and Sweet Dew Powder). If there is no improvement, it indicates severe accumulated heat; thus, Shen Xiong Cang Yong Wan (God Celery and Ligusticum Hidden Use Pill), San Hua Shen Wan (Three Flowers God Pill), or Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Tang (Regulate the Stomach and Direct Downward Decoction) should be used in large doses for purgation. After purgation, Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) should be decocted with long-flowing water and taken, or Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) can be taken for several doses. If still ineffective, Chang Shan San (Dichroa Powder) should be used to induce vomiting again; thereafter, Liang Ge San (Cool the Diaphragm Powder) or Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction) must be administered to ensure a cure. It is strictly forbidden to consume hot-natured wheat noodles, mutton, chicken, pork, fish, rabbit, and similar foods. Ingestion of these items will cause the malaria to relapse, potentially leading to untreatable conditions.
For poor individuals engaged in manual labor like cutting grass, suffering from malaria due to coarse diet, thin clothing, and physical exertion, treatment should not follow the same protocol as that for wealthy individuals. On the day of onset, Ye Fu Duo Xiao Fang (Wild Man's Highly Effective Prescription) or Wen Pi San (Warm the Spleen Powder) can be used. If ineffective, Chen Sha Dan (Cinnabar Pill) will effect a cure. After medication, Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction) and Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) should be decocted with long-flowing water and taken. Consumption of hot foods and dry-hot natured medicines should be avoided, as malaria results from latent summerheat pathogen. *Huangdi Neijing* (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states: "Summer injury by summerheat leads to autumn malaria." Can this be disregarded? The dietary restrictions are the same as mentioned previously.
For adults and children suffering from sudden acute diarrhea with continuous watery stools, *Huangdi Neijing* (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) defines this as "Zhu Xia" (Pouring Down). Pouring down refers to watery diarrhea, a disease caused by excessive Fire phase movement, as Fire governs sudden rebellion. Urgently, Gui Ling Gan Lu San (Cinnamon Twig, Poria, and Sweet Dew Powder), Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria), or Yi Yuan San (Benefit Origin Powder) should be mixed with water, or decocted with long-flowing water and taken when cool to achieve a cure. One must strictly avoid suddenly using astringent herbs such as Ying Su Ke (Poppy Capsule), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), Dou Kou (Cardamom), or Sheng San Zi (Holy Scatter). Although diarrhea may cease, intestinal obstruction will ensue, giving rise to other diseases. Treatment should solely focus on separating Yin and Yang and promoting urinary flow.
