Zhu Ge Xie Jia suffered from leprosy (Lai Ji) and sought treatment from Dai Ren. Dai Ren declined, saying: "Wait until the fifth or sixth lunar month; that is the appropriate time for treatment. In early spring, it is still cold, and medication should not be taken. I have already packed my belongings to go to Wan Qiu, waiting until the fifth or sixth month to prepare the medicine." Zhu Ge Xie Jia considered this an excuse. Later, Dai Ren indeed arrived in Zhu Ge in the sixth month, having prepared medicines such as Garlic (Allii Sativi Bulbus) and Floating Duckweed (Spirodelae Herba). He sent someone to summon Xie Jia, saying: "The medicine is ready; you may come for treatment." However, Xie Jia was confused by other remedies and did not go. Dai Ren said: "I was not making excuses before. Because of the cold spring weather, inducing sweating (Fa Han) was not advisable; in the hot summer months, inducing sweating is easier. The *Nei Jing* discusses the treatment of leprosy, stating that the regrowth of eyebrows and eyelashes indicates recovery; acupuncture acts similarly to inducing sweating. If no medicine is available, one session of acupuncture-induced sweating can equal a thousand sessions. Therefore, Gao Ju Feng composed the 'Song of Gathering Duckweed': 'Not dwelling in the mountains nor on the shore, gather me in the middle of the seventh lunar month; whether it is paralysis wind or flaccidity wind, even slight winds are insignificant; take three pills soaked in bean-dripping wine, and even iron heads will sweat.' Alas! Scholars look down upon each other, and physicians harbor hostility toward one another. Scholars only harm themselves, but physicians can harm others. This refers precisely to people like Xie Jia."
Zhang Zhu Bu from Yang Xia had suffered from leprosy for over ten years, with complete loss of eyebrows and beard, and skin rough and dry like tree bark. Dai Ren diagnosed him, saying: "Cases where sweating occurs are treatable. Profuse sweating must be induced. The sweat will likely have a foul odor, and the saliva/phlegm will be fishy." He placed the patient in a warm room, sealing all drafts, and administered San Sheng San (Three Holy Powder) to induce vomiting (Yong). Sweat covered his entire body, as if he were lying in water. The sweat was indeed sticky and foul-smelling, and the phlegm was fishy like fish mucus, with slight sweating on the soles of both feet. Subsequently, Zhou Che Wan (Boat Cart Pill) and Jun Chuan San (River Clearing Powder) were used to induce severe purgation (Xia), five to seven times per session, repeated several times until he recovered.
The wife of the Hu family in Yang Xia suffered from wind-induced cracking of the hands and feet, accompanied by blurred vision. Dai Ren said: "When the Jue Yin (Liver Pericardium channel) qi arrives, fissures occur. It is also stated: 'Rumbling, turbidity, opening, and splitting are all functions of Wind.' Wind belongs to Wood; when Wood is stagnant, it must be dispersed (Da). Dispersal here refers to emesis (Yong). First, induce emesis, then administer Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Tang (Regulate the Stomach Order the Qi Decoction) added with Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) to purge downward. Immediate effect was observed."
