Treats carbuncles of the back, ulcers, malignant sores, severe nodules, and all kinds of unnamable swellings, toxic sores, and abnormal lesions. For those in the initial stage with heat and pain that have not yet ulcerated, taking this prescription (is extremely effective).
Ingredients: Jinwen Sichuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 2.5 liang; half is roasted over charcoal fire until cooked, ensuring it is not over-roasted to preserve its efficacy; half is used raw), Da Gancao Jie (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma nodes, 2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take one spoonful each time, mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach. Take one or two doses, stopping when bowel movement becomes loose; immediate effect can be expected. If Gancao Jie is unavailable, the final efficacy will not manifest quickly.
Efficacy: Eliminates carbuncles and ulcers as well as intestinal abscesses, supports the interior to detoxify, consolidates the zang-fu organs, protects the mucous membranes, and relieves pain.
Ingredients: Huangla (Beeswax, genuine, 2 liang), Mingjin Jinfan (Alumen, clear and pure, 3 liang).
Preparation and Administration: First melt the beeswax, remove from heat, and let it cool slightly to warm. Add Bai Fan (Alumen) and mix evenly. Quickly roll the mixture by hand into pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take fifty pills each time before meals, washed down with wine, once daily.
Note: Tao Jian'an stated, "I have carefully examined this prescription. It does more than just relieve pain and generate flesh; its ability to protect membranes, stop diarrhea, detoxify, resolve pus, and internally dissolve toxins, drain pus, and support the interior during carbuncles and ulcers is significant. If an ulcer is triggered by mineral and metallic elixirs, nothing else can treat it but this formula. Additionally, using one liang of Bai Fan (Alumen), take one qian each time mixed with warm wine for even better results. For widespread sores resembling snake heads, known as 'Snake Head Sores,' this prescription is particularly suitable. Taking one hundred pills daily yields efficacy. For injuries caused by snakes, scorpions, and all poisonous insects, dissolve the Alumen, apply it hot to the affected area, and take it internally to resolve the toxicity. It is indeed an essential medicine for external surgery. Taking more than four liang shows enhanced efficacy, making it highly suitable after the ulceration of carbuncles and ulcers. It is very stable to take and especially excellent for intestinal abscesses; taking this ensures safety without worry. Truly a good prescription."
Treats carbuncles, ulcers, and all types of toxic sores, regardless of how long they have existed, whether suppurated or non-suppurated. For example, for a carbuncle on the back, first wash clean with warm water, dry with a soft cloth, and apply using crimson silk spread with the ointment. Simultaneously, swallow the ointment with cold water. This ointment can be stored for over ten years without spoiling; the longer it is stored, the stronger its potency. It also treats scrofula and sores; wash with salt water before application, and still take one hundred pills washed down with wine. For women with amenorrhea, make pills and take them with Licorice Decoction. For all types of tinea, boil Sesame Oil (Sesami Oleum), take a small amount, and mix with the ointment to apply. Injuries from tigers, dogs, snakes, scorpions, scalds, burns, knife wounds, and axe wounds are all suitable for internal administration and external application.
Ingredients: Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Chishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Slice the above ingredients. Use two jin of Sesame Oil (Sesami Oleum) in a copper pot to decoct until black. Filter out the dregs. Add twelve liang of Hongdan (Lithargyrum) and continue decocting. Test by dropping into water and rolling between fingers; when the consistency is moderate in hardness and softness, the ointment is ready.
