Elderly individuals who regularly consume the formula for moistening and purging the viscera, preventing paralysis and phlegm-fire diseases, will find it extremely effective (see the formula in the "Winter Category").
Guben Jiu (Solidify the Root Wine): Regular consumption by the elderly tonifies the Spleen, clears the Lung, nourishes the Heart, benefits the Kidney, and greatly supplements Yin and Blood.
Ingredients: Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang), Ganshou Gouqi (Lycium Fruit from Ganzhou, 1 liang), Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix, heart removed, 1 liang), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed, 1 liang), Huaisheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata from Huaiqing, 1 liang), Huaishu Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata from Huaiqing, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Soak the above herbs in 12 jin of high-quality Sha Jiu (Burning Wine). In spring and autumn, soak for half a month; in summer, for seven days; in winter, for twenty-one days. Seal the bottle mouth tightly. After the soaking period is complete, remove the dregs and squeeze out the juice. Drink two cups on an empty stomach daily. The remaining dregs can be boiled again with 10 jin of Bai Jiu (White Wine), strained, and consumed at will daily.
This wine unblocks blood vessels, harmonizes Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi), sharpens hearing and vision. Long-term use doubles physical strength, enabling walking and running as swiftly as a horse, turning white hair black, regrowing fallen teeth, extending life and promoting longevity.
Effect Description: The Heart connects with the Spirit (Shen), bringing radiance day and night.
Preparation: Collect Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the sixth day of the sixth month, or the seventh day of the seventh month, in any quantity. Pound into a paste and squeeze to obtain five dou of clear juice. Steam five dou of Glutinous Rice (Japonicae Oryzae Semen). Add five jin of Xi Jiu Qu (Fine Wine Yeast) [Southern regions use only three jin]. Pound the yeast, mix well, and place in a vat according to wine-making methods. Cover tightly. After thirty-seven days (three times seven days), press to extract the liquid, store in a new jar, and seal with mud. Warm and drink two or three cups each time; this is excellent.
Effects: Clears the Heart, brightens the eyes, nourishes Blood, and disperses Wind.
