Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction): Treats fever caused by blood deficiency in the Liver, Spleen, and Kidney meridians; or exacerbation of heat in the afternoon (Shen hour, approx. 15:00-17:00); dizziness and cloudiness of the head and eyes; irritability and insomnia; distension in the chest and diaphragm; or pain in the hypochondrium. This formula is appropriate. If Spleen Qi deficiency fails to generate blood, Sizijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) is appropriate. If Spleen Qi is constrained and deficient, Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) is appropriate. If Kidney Yin is exhausted and fails to nourish Liver blood, Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) is appropriate.
