Song says: I have Huangu Dan (Bone-Changing Pill), passed down with extreme secrecy; it opens the patient's heart, supports the arm of the frail elder; strong qi extends life, clear spirit keeps eyes bright. Zhang Xianweng of Nanshan lived to 380 years old. Ingredients include: Huaipi (Pericarpium Sophorae Flavae), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Simianmi (Duzhong), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae). Xianrenfang (Fangfeng), Shouwu (He Shou Wu), Manjingzi (Fructus Viticis) — ten items each in equal proportion. Kuxin (Sophorae Flavescentis Cortex) and Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) are halved; Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum) and Shexiang (Moschus) are used in small amounts. Coat with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Use Mahuang Gao (Ephedra Paste) to bind and form pills, size like finger joints. Preparation must be done in a secluded room, not seen by women. Take one pill before bed at night; sweat will moisten the whole body, eliminating myriad diseases, as if accompanying immortals.

Grind into powder, mix and pound with Mahuang Gao (Ephedra Paste) fifteen thousand times. Divide each liang of powder into ten pills. Take one pill per dose, swallow with warm wine after food and before sleep. Cover with heavy clothing; when sweating occurs, rub the body. The prescription notes should include tonifying adjustments and avoiding wind-cold. "Simianmi" refers to Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae).
