In terms of treatment, for various blood disorders (blood syndromes), if the patient’s body is cool and the pulse is fine/small, it is easy to treat. This indicates that the Qi of the Five Viscera has recovered; if the patient’s body is hot and the pulse is large/surging, it is difficult to treat because the pathogenic factor is victorious/prevailing.
Abdominal distension accompanied by bloody stool, with a pulse that is large but intermittent or failing at times, constitutes a counter-indication/reversal syndrome. In such cases, death will occur in less than one shichen (two hours).
