Treats carbuncles and sores, as well as all kinds of malignant toxins. Regardless of the duration or depth of the condition, whether pus has formed or not, including bites from snakes, tigers, centipedes, dog bites, burns, scalds, and injuries from knives or axes, it can be taken internally or applied externally. For cases of blocked Qi and blood, take with warm wine; for leukorrhea (white and red vaginal discharge), take with Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis) wine. Specifically for closed-type red throat wind (acute laryngitis/epiglottitis), wrap the plaster in new cotton wool, place in the mouth, and let it dissolve slowly. For all types of wind-induced redness and swelling, knead the plaster into small cakes, apply to the Taiyang acupoint (Ex-HN5), and subsequently swallow with Gardenia soup. For contusions and traumatic injuries, it can be applied externally and taken internally, swallowed with Tangerine Peel soup; for lower back and knee pain, apply externally to the affected area and take internally with salt water soup. For hemoptysis (coughing up blood), take with Mulberry Root Bark soup. Each dose is one pill, the size of a cherry, coated with clam powder. This plaster can be stored for ten years without spoiling; the longer it is stored, the better its efficacy.
Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Paeoniae Rubra Radix (Chishao), Cinnamomi Cortex (Rougui), Rheum Palmati Radix et Rhizoma (Chuan Dahuang), Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Shengdi) (each 1 liang). The above herbs are chopped, soaked in 2 jin of sesame oil. Soak for five days in spring, three days in summer, seven days in autumn, and ten days in winter. Boil over fire until black. Filter out the dregs, add 1 jin of Minium (Huandan), stir constantly with green willow branches until a drop forms a bead when cooled in water. Pour into porcelain vessels, bury in the earth in a pit for three days to remove "fire toxicity," then seal tightly.
Divinely effective for treating all kinds of swelling and toxins, whether ulcerated or not, as well as contusions, traumatic injuries, rheumatic Qi pain, etc. Ancient formulas were used both externally and internally, which inevitably diluted their specific efficacy. Mr. Zhang Shiwen specifically formulated this prescription solely for external application to enhance its toxin-pulling power, making its external therapeutic effect superior to previous methods.
True Sesame Oil (24 liang), boiled down to concentrate, pour in human hair, stir constantly with peach and willow branches until the hair melts. Then add Castor Seeds (boiled until charred). Human Hair (one large clump, preferably black and glossy, added gradually to the oil to melt), Castor Seeds (200 grains, shelled and crushed, added to the oil and boiled until charred). Once the hair has melted and the castor seeds are charred, add the following herbs and simmer over slow fire.
Large Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Shengdi) (4 liang, sliced), Black Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen), Rheum Palmati Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang) (sliced), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (whole root, each 3 liang), Paeoniae Rubra Radix (Chishao), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Cinnamomi Cortex (Rougui) (all coarse bark removed, chopped, each 2 liang). Simmer until the herbal color becomes dark black, filter out the dregs, simmer slowly until thick. Then add the following four ingredients to form the plaster. The consistency should be neither too hard nor too soft, judged by the "drop forms a bead" test. In summer, it should be slightly firmer; in winter, slightly softer.
Clear Pine Resin (Minsongxiang) (1 jin, crushed, placed inside a green onion tube, tied securely with thread, steamed over boiling water in a bowl until melted, removed, cooled, the onion removed, and ground fine, 8 liang, added first, followed by Minium). True Minium (Huandan) (20 liang total; those yellow in color are authentic, processed by wet grinding [shuifei], dried, and fried until black, 10 liang; if red in color, it is Dongdan, do not use). Olibanum (Dirutxiang) (roasted on bamboo leaf to remove oil, ground fine, 2 liang). Myrrha (Zhen Moyao) (2 liang, baked on bamboo leaf to remove oil, ground fine). Add these four ingredients to complete the plaster. Store in porcelain containers. Apply as needed. It is divinely effective.
