Treats chronic illness resulting in emaciation and weakness, with incessant vomiting and diarrhea.
Chenpi (Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae), Zhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam) (each 1.5 qian); Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, baked); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 qian); Dazao (Fructus Jujubae) (2 pieces).
In chronic illness with deficiency, the Lung Metal loses its descending function, allowing Heart Fire to flare upward unchecked; this is the cause of vomiting and rebellious qi. The acrid-warm properties of Shengjiang and Chenpi guide the descent; Zhuru and raw Gancao’s sweet-cold nature restrains the upward flare; Renshen and Dazao strengthen the Stomach and support the Spleen to stabilize their transportation functions, thereby stopping the vomiting. If caused by cold, replace Zhuru with Dingxiang; do not adhere rigidly without flexibility.
Treats vomiting due to Stomach deficiency.
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in decoction, 5 qian); Renshen (Radix Ginseng, 3 qian); Baimi (Meli Mel, 2 qian). Use two bowls of water, mix with honey, stir vigorously 240 times, decoct until one-eighth remains, and take warm.
Use Sheng Mingfan (Alumen, raw) and Yanshi (Sal, 6-7 fen each), grind into an extremely fine powder, mix with approximately one bowl of hot water and one bowl of cold water, and have the patient drink it all at once. Then induce vomiting by stimulating the throat. Doing this once or twice ensures recovery in all cases.
Chenpi (Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae, white pith removed), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, skin retained, each 3 qian). Use one zhong of water, decoct until one-sixth remains, and take.
Specifically treats alcohol accumulation, dispersing pathogenic factors from the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao.
Baidoukou (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Gehua (Puerariae Flos) (each 1 qian); Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1 fen); Qingpi (Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride, 6 fen); Chenpi (Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae), Baifuling (Poria), Zhuling (Polyporus), Renshen (Radix Ginseng) (each 3 qian); Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, stir-fried), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, stir-fried), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (each 4 qian). Decoct in water and take.
Accumulation of alcohol/food causes abdominal pain, as the Middle Jiao is injured, leading to rebellious qi and dampness stagnation. Baidoukou and Sharen are effective in pushing down rebellious qi and possess acrid-dispersing power; Gehua enters the Yangming channel exclusively, resolving damp-heat toxicity through the muscles; thus, these three herbs serve as the Sovereign drugs to resolve Upper Jiao intoxication. Fuling, Zhuling, and Zexie expel damp-heat toxicity via urination; thus, these three serve as Minister drugs to resolve Lower Jiao intoxication. Renshen, Baizhu, Muxiang, Chenpi, and Ganjiang harmonize Middle Jiao qi, destroying the pathogen's stronghold, to resolve Middle Jiao intoxication.
