Denghua (Flower of a Candlewick) and Zhusha (Cinnabar) are ground into fine powder, mixed with honey. After the infant falls asleep, apply it to the lips and oral cavity.
When infants suddenly experience severe stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, with abdominal distension and fullness, crying loudly, irritability, and extreme distress, this may be due to weak Qi and Blood, incomplete development of Spirit, and contact with external pathogenic factors, guest pathogens, or animals that cause rebellion. Alternatively, if guest pathogens have not yet dissipated, and parents engage in sexual intercourse followed by immediate breastfeeding while still panting, these conditions can all lead to "Ke Wu" (Guest Rebellion). The manifestations include startled crying, expulsion of green, yellow, or white froth from the mouth, separation of water and grain (indigestion), alteration of facial appearance, abdominal pain with tight facial muscles, body arching backward or lying on the side, and a wiry, rapid, and frequent pulse. The condition resembles Jing Xian (Startled Epilepsy), but a distinguishing feature is that the eyes look downward without rolling upward. Treatment should focus on calming fright and dispelling evil, tonifying Heart Qi, and warming vital energy. Do not use overly cold formulas, nor mistakenly treat it as Jing Feng (Wind Stroke) with harsh purgatives, which could lead to Man Jing (Slow Convulsion). One must also inspect the left and right sides of the mouth for any small swellings or abscesses; if found, they should be punctured immediately with a bamboo needle for urgent treatment, as delay makes healing difficult. If the condition progresses to flaccid limbs, black complexion, dull eyes, uncontrollable salivation, locked jaws, and cold breath, it is incurable.
For critical abdominal pain caused by Ke Wu:
Xionghuang (Realgar, 1 qian), Ming Ruxiang (Clear Frankincense, 5 fen), Shexiang (Musk, 1 zi). Grind into fine powder. Take 1 zi per dose, mixed with Rooster Comb Blood, and administer orally.
For acute onset of Ke Wu:
Mix equal parts of Zaozhong Huangtu (Yellow Earth from the Hearth) and Qiuyin Fen (Earthworm Excrement). Grind into fine powder, mix with water, and apply to the infant's head and the centers of the hands and feet. This is effective.
The condition caused by object contact occurs when a child's beloved item is forcibly taken away, causing anger. The Spirit scatters with the object, leading to refusal to eat or speak, mental confusion resembling drunkenness, and flaccid limbs. Various malignant symptoms appear without clear cause. Therefore, one must inquire of the parents and fulfill the child's desires, then use herbal medicine to regulate the body, allowing the Spirit to settle and return to peace.
For illness caused by object contact:
Chenxiang (Agarwood), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Zisuye (Perilla Leaf), Renshen (Ginseng), Gancao (Licorice Root, roasted), each in equal parts. Grind into fine powder. Decoct Zisugeng (Perilla Stem) in water, and take the powder mixed with this decoction.
"Bai Hu" (White Tiger) refers to astrological positions: when the Tai Sui (Grand Duke Jupiter) is in Si, Bai Hu is in Chen; when Tai Sui is in Shen, Bai Hu is in Wei. Other positions follow this pattern. If the spirit in that direction is offended due to ignorance of taboos during entry or exit, disease can result. Symptoms include slight fever, occasional chills, crying, flexing fingers as if counting, and absence of spasms in the hands and feet. This is the manifestation of Bai Hu disease.
