Diagram of the Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian
The name of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) meridian: Waiguan (Outer Pass) and Zhongzhu (Middle Pool) are located between the little finger and the ring finger; Ye Men (Liquid Gate) is anterior to Zhongzhu; Zhongzhu is posterior to the proximal interphalangeal joint of the ring finger; Yangchi (Yang Pool) is in the depression above the wrist; Waiguan is two cun above the wrist, where the collateral branch diverges to Zhigou (Branching Stream); Huizong (Meeting Ancestor) is three cun above the wrist; Sanyangluo (Three Yang Network) is in the hollow three cun behind the wrist; Qinglengyuan (Cold Cold Abyss) is five cun anterior to the elbow, in the depression lateral to the large vessel on the outer arm; Xiaoluo (Eliminating Turbidity) continues upward along the lateral aspect of the bone parallel to the Three Yang channels; Tianjing (Heavenly Well) is one cun above the elbow; Jianliao (Shoulder Cavity) is two cun lateral to the elbow; Jianjing (Well of the Shoulder) is three cun at the shoulder head; Tiannao (Heavenly Window) is above the shoulder end reaching heaven; Tiannan (Heavenly Mound) is beside Tiannao; Tianrong (Heavenly Reception) is in the neck posteriorly; Yifeng (Wind Screen) is in the depression behind the mastoid process (the sharp bone behind the ear); the pulse meets in a chicken-foot shape behind the ear; Lufei (Skull Fontanelle - *Note: likely refers to a point near the occiput or specific vascular point*) is located where the green collateral vessels appear behind the ear; Jiaosun (Ear Corner Sun) is where the ear corner opens with an empty space; Xizhu (Bamboo Tie) is in the depression at the shoulder head; Heliao (Grain Hole) is in the hairline anterior to the ear, same as Ermen (Ear Gate), directly in front of the tragus. It is clearly stated that this acupoint should not be needled.
The Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian originates from the end of the web space between the little and ring fingers, emerges from the back of the hand above the wrist, runs between the two bones of the forearm, passes behind the elbow, moves outward along the shoulder, positioned posterior to the Shaoyang channel, intersects in the ear, enters the ear, re-emerges anterior to the ear, intersects at Shangguang (Upper Brightness), descends to Qujie (Crooked Jaw), and reaches the inner canthus of the eye, where the meridian ends. Pathological manifestations of the Sanjiao meridian include: deficiency of Qi and abundance of Blood; if moved (Is-dong diseases), it presents with tinnitus, sore throat, and bi-syndrome; if it generates diseases (Suo-sheng-bing), it presents with spontaneous sweating, pain behind the ear, pain at the Lianquan point, pain at the outer canthus, pain throughout the shoulder, elbow, and arm, and dysfunction of the little and ring fingers.
(There are approximately 44 acupoints on the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, totaling 88 points on both sides.)
Diagram of the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian
The Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian originates from the outer canthus of the eye, moves forward to the depression anterior to the ear, where Tinghui (Auditory Meeting) is located. Above is Shangguang (Upper Brightness). In the opening anterior to the ear is Hanyan (Mandible Dislike). Naokong (Brain Hollow) is at the upper margin. Xuanlu (Suspended Skull) is palpated at the end of the curved angle. Xuanli (Suspended Hairline) is at the lower margin of Naokong. Qubin (Curved Temporal) is seen when lying down, directly above the tip of the ear. Shuai Gu (Shuai Valley) is located half a cun from Qubin. Benshen (Root of Spirit) is four fen into the hairline above the ear, level and forward is Qucha (Curved Difference). One cun lateral to each side of Qucha is Yangbai (Bright Yang), recorded one cun above the eyebrow. Linqi (Approaching Flow) is an acupoint located five fen into the hairline straight up from the pupils. Mucuang (Eye Window) and Zhengying (Upright Camp) are each one cun apart. Chengling (Receiving Spirit) is recorded one cun and five fen posterior to Zhengying. Tianshong (Heavenly Rush) is located two cun above the ear. Fubai (Floating White) corresponds to one cun into the hairline. Qiaoyin (Aperture Yin) is in the hollow movement under the occiput. Wangu (Wrist Bone - *Note: Textual error for Wanggu/Complete Bone*) connects four fen behind the ear to Naokong. Naokong is centrally sandwiched by the Yuzhen bone. Fengchi (Wind Pool) is in the depression at the posterior hairline. Jianjing (Well of the Shoulder) is one cun and half in front of the prominent bone. Yuanye (Abyss Liquid) is three cun below, pressed until the tendon flattens. Riyue (Sun and Moon) is one cun anterior and slightly inferior to the flattened tendon. Jingmen (Gate of the Capital) is two cun and half, seeking carefully five fen straight down. Jingmen monitors the bone in the waist, observing the di pulse. Jixie (Costal Margin) is eight fen and five li. Wushu (Five Pivot) is three cun below the belt line. Weidao (Pathway Avenue) is obtained at five cun and three fen. Juque (Residence of Void - *Textual ambiguity*)... Eight cun and three fen to seek Xietang (Flank Hall). Looking at the second rib under the axilla is Huantiao (Jumping Pivot). Shupu Wan (Pivot Pit Hollow)... Discussing hands touching the legs, Fengshi (Wind Market) seeks five cun above the knee. Zhongdu (Central Flood) searches... Yangguan (Yang Pass) is three cun above Yanglingquan (Yang Ling Spring). Yangjiao (Yang Intersection) is sought one cun below Yanglingquan at the knee. Seven cun obliquely from the lateral malleolus; seven cun above the malleolus to find Waiqiu (Outer Hill). Guangming (Bright Light) is at the junction five cun above the malleolus. Yangfu (Yang Support) collects Xuanzhong (Suspended Bell) four cun above. Three cun to see Jiegu (Bone Joint/Accumulation). Qiuxu (Hill Ruins) is in the depression anterior to the malleolus. Half a cun posterior to Linqi is Xiaxi (Below the Stream). Wuhui (Five Meetings) is one cun away; moxibustion here prevents premature death. Xiaxi is between the web space of the little and ring toes. Qiaoyin (Aperture Yin) is at the end of the little toe.
