The Yang Qiao Mai (Yang Heel Vessel) originates in the middle of the heel, ascends to merge with the three Yang meridians at the lateral malleolus, travels along the hypochondrium and shoulder, enters the neck, belongs to the medial canthus, and meets the Taiyang Meridian.
[Note] The Yang Qiao Mai originates in the middle of the heel, ascends passing the lateral malleolus where it merges with the three Yang meridians. It passes through the hypochondrium at the acupoint of the Shaoyang Meridian (e.g., Juliao), ascends along the shoulder, enters the neck passing acupoints of the Yangming Meridian such as Jianyu and Chengqi, ultimately belongs to the medial canthus, and converges with the Taiyang Meridian.
The Yang Qiao Mai originates from Shenmai, Pucan, and Yangjiao; resides in the area of Jugu; passes through Shuyu, Dicang, Juxiao, and Chengqi; and finally terminates at the robust Jingming acupoint.
The Yang Qiao Mai originates from the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. Shenmai is located five fen below the lateral malleolus; Pucan wraps around below the calcaneus posteriorly; Fuyang is located three cun above the lateral malleolus; Juliao is taken in the depression above the bone; Jianyu corresponds directly to the tip of the shoulder; Jugu is named so because it ascends upward from the shoulder; Shuyu is located on the upper part of the scapula; Dicang is positioned four fen beside the corner of the mouth; Juxiao is eight fen beside the nose; Chengqi is seven fen below the eye; and Jingming is located one fen lateral to the medial canthus.
[Note] "Qiao" refers to the foot; among the Extraordinary Vessels, those involving the feet are named Qiao vessels. "Yang" indicates that its pathway traverses Yang meridians. The Yang Qiao Mai is defined as a divergent branch of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. It originates from the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, specifically in the depression five fen below the lateral malleolus of the foot, which is the Shenmai acupoint. From Shenmai, it winds posteriorly below the calcaneus, where the Pucan acupoint is located. From Pucan, it moves anteriorly and obliquely to three cun above the lateral malleolus, where the Fuyang acupoint is located. It then meets the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian eight cun and three fen below the end of the costal cartilage at the flank, where the Juliao acupoint is located. It meets the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian above the humeral head at the shoulder end, where the Jianyu acupoint is located. From Jianyu, it ascends to the space between the two forked bones above the shoulder tip, where the Jugu acupoint is located. It meets the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, and Yang Wei Mai at the upper edge of the scapula below the large bone posterior to the shoulder, where the Shuyu acupoint is located. It meets the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian four fen lateral to the corner of the mouth, where the Dicang acupoint is located. From Dicang, it travels to eight fen lateral to the nostril, where the Juxiao acupoint is located. It meets the Ren Mai and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian seven fen below the eye, where the Chengqi acupoint is located. Finally, it meets the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian, and Yin Qiao Mai one fen lateral to the medial canthus, where the Jingming acupoint is located.
