道光午年七月既望姻世再愚侄郑学检谨跋
Mr. Xiuyuan was the father-in-law of Elder Chen Tai and a renowned senior figure in Wuhang. Having served as a local magistrate with an outstanding reputation for governance after obtaining the title of Ming Xiaolian (a distinguished graduate of the imperial examinations), he returned to his hometown decades ago. All his various medical writings had already been selectively printed and published by His Excellency Hui'an, the father-in-law of Lingshi Tai. Now, a new edition of *Congzhong Lu* (Record of Following the Masses), comprising eight volumes, has been newly published. It is categorized into sections, each well-organized. In it, symptoms are differentiated and pulses analyzed; essential points from various schools are excerpted, and accompanying notes are provided, all being extremely precise and pertinent. This sufficiently demonstrates the profound and distant origins of his family's scholarly tradition! Those who read his works will suddenly have their minds opened; it is truly a golden needle for guiding people out of suffering and a fine method for saving lives. I, Jian Tian, am honored by our family friendship and marital alliance. Though unworthy due to my own shallowness and ignorance, I respectfully append a few words as a postscript to express my heartfelt admiration.
Postscript respectfully written by Zheng Xuejian, humble nephew through marriage and family ties, on the 16th day of the 7th month in the Wu year of the Daoguang reign.
