Millet-like tonsils (Ru'e) arise in the throat, resembling nipples. Those appearing on one side are called single millet-like tonsils; those on both sides are called double millet-like tonsils. Puncture the nipple-like protrusions with a small knife to induce bleeding, and the condition will heal immediately. Apply Liuhua San (Willow Flower Powder) externally, followed by oral administration of Ganjie Tang (Licorice and Magnolia Bud Decoction). When needling millet-like tonsils, it is appropriate to needle the head and tail ends, but not the middle. If fresh blood flows, it is easy to treat; if the blood is dark and scanty, it is difficult to treat. For any incision or needle procedure, if bleeding does not stop, grind Guang Sanqi (Panax Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma) into fine powder and blow it onto the wound to stop the bleeding. When using knives or needles, do not...
She nosebleed (Shenu), if bleeding persists, use Liuwei Tang (Six-Ingredient Decoction) as the main formula, adding Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), and Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix). Simultaneously apply Liuhua San externally.
Xuan yong (Hanging Abscess) arises in the hard palate, resembling a purple plum. It is appropriate to puncture the abscess head with a needle, use Licorice Decoction to swab out the stasis, and apply and administer Liuhua San.
Sai yong (Cheek Abscess) arises below the cheek, causing swelling around the throat. First, mix vinegar juice with Xuanming Fen (Mirabilite) to swab away phlegm. Then, identify the purplish-black areas, needle them to drain the stasis, and apply/administer treatments as described previously.
Hou chuang (Throat Ulcer) is caused by Minister Fire from the Mingmen (Gate of Life). When the ulcer suppurates, pierce it with a silver needle, then wash the area with a decoction of Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma). Apply/administer treatments as described previously.
(Dental Abscess, Gum Recession, Toothache)
Zouma Yagan (Running Horse Dental Gangrene) presents with red and swollen gums that gradually turn purplish-black and foul-smelling, indicating Stomach Heat. Ya Yong (Dental Abscess) involves swelling, pain, and suppuration at the gum margin. Ya Xuan (Gum Recession/Exposure) involves complete swelling of the gum roots, exposing them externally. Apply Liuhua San externally and take Qingwei San (Stomach-Clearing Powder) internally. For toothache, apply Liaoya Zhitong San (Tooth-Pain-Stopping Powder) externally and take Gegen Tang (Kudzu Root Decoction) internally.
Hou liu (Throat Tumor) arises beside the throat, resembling a longan fruit, wrapped in blood vessels. Do not use knives or needles; instead, apply Shexiang San (Musk Powder) externally and take Jiawei Ganjie Tang (Modified Licorice and Magnolia Bud Decoction) internally.
Jian chun (Cocoon Lip) presents as blisters on the lips resembling cocoons. At the onset, moxibustion with small moxa cones should be applied, and Wanchun Gao (Perfect Protection Plaster) should be pasted on the area.
Fei jue Hou bi (Lung Exhaustion with Throat Bi): In cases of chronic throat Bi syndrome, frequent use of cooling and descending medications leads to surging phlegm and hoarseness, or a rattling sound like sawing wood. This is a sign that Lung Qi is about to exhaust. The prognosis is poor. It is appropriate to use Dushen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction), or combine with Bawei Tang (Eight-Ingredient Decoction), or combine with Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Significant Tonifying Decoction). Early administration can save one in ten patients.
