Those occurring in the heart region are named Jing Kou Ju (Well-Mouth Carbuncle). Those occurring in the hypochondrium are named Xie Yong (Hypochondriac Abscess). Those occurring in the abdomen are named Du Yong (Abdominal Abscess). Those occurring at the wrist or ankle joints of the hands and feet are named Chuan Gu Ju (Bone-Penetrating Carbuncle). Those occurring in the groin crease are named Yu Kou (Fish Mouth). Those occurring in the buttocks are named Tun Yong (Buttock Abscess). The treatment for these conditions follows the methods described previously.
For patients suffering from Jing Kou Ju, this formula should be used frequently; it is also suitable for other conditions.
Yuan Zhi Rou (Polygalae Radix, heart removed, soaked in Licorice Decoction and stir-fried, 1 liang 5 qian) Lv Dou Fen (Mung Bean Powder, 2 liang) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, stir-fried, 5 qian) Ming Ru Xiang (Clear Frankincense, stir-fried on bamboo leaf, 2 liang) Chen Sha (Cinnabar, ground fine and processed by water flotation, 2 qian)
Grind all into a fine powder. Take 3 qian each time, washed down with boiled water.
To treat Yu Kou, Bian Du, Ma Yi Yong (Horse-riding Abscess), and Heng Xuan (Inguinal Buboes) in their initial stage before suppuration, this formula is suitable.
Er Cha (Catechu) Xue Jie (Dragon's Blood) Ru Xiang (Frankincense) Mo Yao (Myrrh) Qing Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) Chuan Shan Jia (Pangolin Scales, stir-fried, 1 liang each)
Take equal parts of the above herbs, grind into powder. Use Gui Wei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix Tail) 3 liang, Hong Hua (Carthami Flos) 2 liang, decoct with wine to make a paste, and form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 2 qian each time, taken on an empty stomach with warm wine.
Cut open a large walnut, insert two whole Scorpions (Quan Xie) inside, burn to ash while preserving its medicinal property, grind into powder, and take with warm wine.
At the initial stage of Ding Chuang (Ding Carbuncle/Furuncle), it appears as small as a mustard seed, resembling a pimple, or a small blister hard like a Ding, hence the name Ding. Generally, if the flesh is red and swollen with a distinct root that does not spread, the prognosis is auspicious; if it is flat, spreading, and surrounded by grayish-white tissue, the prognosis is ominous. Its appearance varies, and its colors differ, including red, purple, yellow, white, and black, corresponding to the Five Zang Organs. If it occurs on both feet, there may often be red threads extending to the umbilicus; if on the hands, red threads may extend to the heart region; if on the face or lips, red threads may extend to the throat. These are difficult to treat. One should promptly prick the red threads to bleed them; many patients will survive. If the lesion is located at the extremities of the limbs, the pathogenic toxin becomes more stagnant, and medicines find it difficult to reach the site. The efficacy of Moxibustion is significant. Internally taking Ju Hua Gan Cao Tang (Chrysanthemum and Licorice Decoction) is highly effective. If one recklessly uses purgative or draining agents, it will consume the True Qi. Not only will the toxin not be eliminated, but harm will follow instead. The treatment method is...
