The protruding bone below the wrist is called the ankle (huái). The muscles standing vertically on both sides of the spinal column are called the lumbar muscles (lǚ). The two angles above the lumbar muscles are called the shoulder junction (jiān jiě). The flat bones below the shoulder junction are called the scapula (jiān jiǎ). The outer corner of the eye is called the acute canthus (ruì zì). The area below the eye is called the lower eye (mù xià). The inner corner of the eye is called the inner canthus (nèi zì).
The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel intersects with the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Channel. The pulse originates at the Shaose (SI1) acupoint at the tip of the little finger. From there, it follows the anterior aspect of the lateral side, passing through the Qian Gu (SI2) and Hou Xi (SI3) acupoints, ascends to the wrist, exits from the middle of the ankle bone, and successively passes through the Wan Gu (SI4), Yang Gu (SI5), and Yang Lao (SI6) acupoints. It goes straight up along the lower border of the arm bone. The Zhi Zheng (SI7) branch emerges between the two tendons on the medial side of the elbow. It passes through the Xiao Hai (SI8) acupoint, ascends along the lateral border of the humerus, runs on the lateral side of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Channel and Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Channel, and ascends to the shoulder, traversing the Jian Zhen (SI9), Tian Zong (SI11), Bing Feng (SI12), Qu Yuan (SI13), Jian Wai Shu (SI14), and Jian Zhong Shu (SI15) acupoints. It then ascends to converge at the Da Zhui (GV14) acupoint, crossing over each other above the two shoulders. From the intersection point, it descends into the Que Pen (Clavicular fossa), follows the shoulder downwards towards the axilla, reaches the region corresponding to Dan Zhong (CV17), connects with the Heart, follows the gastric system, descends through the diaphragm, passes through the Shang Wan (CV13) acupoint, reaches the Stomach, descends lateral to the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel), and at the level of two cun above the umbilicus, belongs to the Small Intestine. Its branch from the Que Pen follows the neck, ascending through the Tian Chuang (SI16) and Tian Rong (SI17) acupoints to the cheek, reaching the zygomatic bone, ascending to the outer canthus of the eye, passing through the Tong Zi Liao (GB1), entering the ear, following the Ting Gong (SI19) acupoint to terminate. Another branch follows the cheek upwards to the nose, reaches the Jing Ming (BL1) acupoint at the inner canthus of the eye, and via an oblique collateral network, connects with the zygomatic region, thereby intersecting with the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel.
There are nineteen acupoints in the Small Intestine Channel. The route starts from Shaose (SI1), stepping upon the prominence of Qian Gu (SI2) and Hou Xi (SI3). The path follows Wan Gu (SI4), observing the elevation of Yang Gu (SI5) and Yang Lao (SI6). Meeting Zhi Zheng (SI7) at Xiao Hai (SI8), one follows Jian Zhen (SI9). Encountering Jian Wai Shu (SI14), one passes Tian Zong (SI11); riding through Bing Feng (SI12) and Qu Yuan (SI13). Jian Wai Shu (SI14) and Jian Zhong Shu (SI15) open Tian Chuang (SI16) and reveal Tian Rong (SI17). Without passing the zygomatic bone, how could one reach Ting Gong (SI19)?
Shaose (SI1) is located laterally at the tip of the little finger. Qian Gu (SI2) is sought on the lateral side of the metacarpal bone, anterior to the joint. Hou Xi (SI3) is taken by making a fist posterior to the joint. Wan Gu (SI4) is found in the depression on the lateral side of the styloid process of the ulna anterior to the wrist. Yang Gu (SI5) is sought in the depression below the styloid process of the ulna (Dui Gu). Yang Lao (SI6) is named one cun above the wrist. Zhi Zheng (SI7) is measured five cun posterior to the wrist. Xiao Hai (SI8) is good at five fen from the end of the elbow. Jian Zhen (SI9) is between the two bone gaps below the scapula. Jian Wai Shu (SI14) is preserved in the depression below the large bone. Tian Zong (SI11) is in the middle of the bone posterior to Bing Feng (SI12). Bing Feng (SI12) has an empty space when the arm is raised laterally. Qu Yuan (SI13) is in the depression of the curved scapula in the middle of the shoulder. Jian Wai Shu (SI14) follows one cun posterior to the scapula. Jian Zhong Shu (SI15) is beside Da Zhu (BL11) at two cun. Tian Chuang (SI16) is detailed in the depression posterior to Fu Tu (LI16). Tian Rong (SI17) is posterior to the curved jaw below the ear. The zygomatic region is measured at the sharp end of the face's lateral aspect. Ting Gong (SI19) is at the end of the ear, the size of a bean. These constitute the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel.
