[Outline of Sha Syndrome]
Sha syndrome is caused by the combination of pathogenic wind and miasma. When the disease is superficial, scraping therapy (Gua Sha) is appropriate; if the pathogen has penetrated deeply, acupuncture is more exquisite. If treated correctly, the efficacy is praiseworthy.
[Outline of Stroke]
Dampness has long pervaded the whole body. Once exposed to wind-cold, numbness and insensitivity occur. The pathogen enters the collaterals, meridians, or transmits to the fu-zang organs; one must accurately distinguish the depth and exterior-interior relationship.
Qufeng Huoxue Tang (Wind-Dispersing Blood-Invigorating Decoction)
(Attached Case)
When one side of the body is struck by pathogenic wind causing deviation of the mouth and eye, mixing the decoction with Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix) yields excellent results. Furthermore, using Zhu Li (Bambusae Succus) to clear phlegm-fire, and Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) to disperse wind yields even more remarkable effects.
Guizhi Guiling Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Angelica Sinensis and Poria Decoction)
(Attached Case)
Hemiplegia on the left side belongs to deficiency in the blood level. Using Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Fu Ling (Poria), and Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) dispels dampness. Adding Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), and Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) allows this miraculous formula to unblock the collaterals.
Huangqi Jiangling Tang (Astragalus, Ginger and Poria Decoction)
(Attached Case)
When the etiology is essentially Qi deficiency, what medicine should be used for hemiplegia on the right side? It is suitable to use Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Fu Ling (Poria) combined with Xing Ren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum) and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), along with Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma).
Xiao Xuming Tang (Minor Continuation Life Decoction)
(Attached Case)
With dampness in the body, sudden stroke occurs, resulting in stagnant blood vessels. Use Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Xing Ren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), and Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma).
Qufeng Tang (Wind-Dispersing Decoction)
(Attached Case)
How to know that wind pathogens occupy the interior? When the hands and feet suddenly convulse and become immobile, one must use Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Xing Ren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Qin Jiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Fu Ling (Poria).
Tingli San (Descurainiae Seed Powder)
(Attached Case)
Phlegm-saliva is sticky and obstructs the chest, causing confusion and lack of clarity; this is a manifestation of stroke. Using Ting Li Zi (Descurainiae Semen seu Fructus) combined with Gan Sui (Kansui Radix), and adding Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen) yields miraculous功效 (efficacy).
[Outline of Lijie Feng (Joint Pain Wind)]
The etiology lies in being exposed to wind after drinking alcohol. Symptoms include dizziness, a warm sensation in the epigastrium with nausea, sweat staining clothes yellow, swelling of the feet, limb pain, shortness of breath, and extreme difficulty in bearing it.
Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Peony and Anemarrhena Decoction)
(Attached Case)
After alcohol consumption, wind damages the joints. Treatment should suitably combine Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), and Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), along with Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma). Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) harmonizes the middle, and Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) is also used.
[Outline of Bi Syndrome]
Bi syndrome arises from the combination of dampness, wind, and cold. Pain and numbness alternate, indicating it is never a mild condition. For chronic cases lasting a long time, how can they be resolved? Only the previous methods are feasible. (Still primarily using Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang)
Huangqi Wuwu Tang (Astragalus Five-Ingredient Decoction)
(Attached Case)
When a channel suffers from blood-bi due to deficiency, using Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) to promote circulation is applicable. Da Zao (Jujubae Fructus) and Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) nourish the liver and should be added together. This harmonizes Ying and Wei, assists Qi, and uses Huangqi (Astragali Radix).
