[Li Dongyuan] When wind-dampness mutually combats, causing pain throughout the entire body, treat it with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Ben (Gastrodiae Rhizoma or similar, text incomplete), and Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma). Do not continue taking it after the disease is eliminated, because various wind-dispelling drugs damage the person's Yuanqi (Original Qi) and exacerbate the illness.
[Zhu Danxi] Shenzhu Tang (Divine Efficacy Artisan Decoction) treats wind-dampness with aversion to cold, tight pulse, and absence of sweating. Baizhu Tang (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Decoction) treats wind-dampness with aversion to wind, slow pulse, and presence of sweating. (Both are found in the section on Continuing Shanghan Fever.)
For the aforementioned two Zhu Tangs treating wind-dampness, modifications should be made according to symptoms. The details are seen in [missing section] and after the formulas for Baizhu Tang and Shenzhu Tang.
[Jisheng Bachui] Xingren Tang (Apricot Seed Decoction) treats wind-dampness causing body pain, aversion to wind, and slight swelling.
Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 2 liang), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, remove joints, soak in boiling water, dry), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Tiandongmen (Asparagi Radix, remove heart, each 1 liang), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 1.5 liang), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 25 seeds, remove skin and tips, stir-fry).
Chop the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with water, and take warm.
[Li Dongyuan] Mahuang Fujian Tang (Mahuang Re-decoction) treats sweating in a yin/cold room, reluctance to speak, fatigue and weakness in the four limbs, and migratory pain. This is due to latent fire in the lower jiao unable to extend, floating and restless heat, leading to sweating and whole-body pain, which constitutes wind-dampness combatting. Use Mahuang to induce sweating, doing so gradually. If the pathogen is in the meridians, inducing sweating is also appropriate. Moreover, during the third month of spring, when the pulse is slow and delayed, inducing sweating is particularly suitable, allowing wind-dampness to depart and yang qi to ascend; thus, fatigue recedes, and both blood and qi thrive.
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, remove joints, use 5 bowls of water, boil first until bubbling, remove foam and dregs, then simmer to 3 bowls before adding other herbs): Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 2 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Chaihu Gen (Bupleuri Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix, each 0.5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 0.3 qian), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, each 1 qian), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 3 seeds, remove skin and tips).
Chop the above ingredients as one dose. Add to the Mahuang decoction, simmer to 1 bowl, take before going to bed, do not take after a full meal.
Danggui Niantong Tang (Angelica Sinensis Pain-Relieving Decoction) treats diseases caused by damp-heat, characterized by body pain. (Formula seen in the Men of Various Bi Syndromes section under "Whole Body Pain".)
