[Formula Song] Jing Ju (Well Carbuncle) arises from Heart Fire at Zhongting (CV17). Initially like a bean, it gradually swells and hurts. With irritability, hot skin, dry lips, and thirst, redness indicates ease of treatment, while black depression portends disaster.
[Note] This condition occurs in the epigastric region, belonging to Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) acupoint Zhongting (CV17), caused by Fire-Toxin accumulation in the Heart Meridian. Initially resembling a bean, swelling and pain increase progressively; the heart feels irritable as if burning, skin is hot as fire, spontaneous sweating occurs, lips are cracked, and there is intense thirst for cold drinks. Urgently administer Neishu Huanglian Tang (Internal Purging Coptis Decoction) or Mailing Dan (Mailin Pill). If accompanied by restlessness, nausea, fever, and absence of sweat, use Duoming Dan (Life-Rescuing Pill) to induce sweating. Redness and high swelling indicate a favorable prognosis (Shun), while black depression and collapse indicate an unfavorable prognosis (Ni). All other internal and external treatments follow the protocols in the "Carbuncle and Ulcer Swelling" and "Ulcer" sections. If young patients fail to heal after ulceration, it will inevitably develop into Chuanxin Leng Wei (Penetrating Heart Cold Atrophy), which is difficult to treat.
Formulas: Neishu Huanglian Tang (Coptis Decoction for Internal Purging), Mailing Dan (see Section on Ulcer Swelling); Duoming Dan (see Back部的 Yin-Yang Qi Carbuncle).
[Formula Song] Fengwo Ju (Honeycomb Carbuncle) resembles a honeycomb, with numerous sores on the lateral chest above the breast. Diffuse swelling, purple color, and pain stem from abundant Heart Fire-Toxin. Black depression is unfavorable; redness is favorable.
[Note] This condition occurs on the lateral chest above the breast, sometimes appearing all over the body, caused by excessive Heart Fire-Toxin. The color is purple with diffuse swelling and pain; the body experiences chills and fever. Initially, there are six or seven pores, which gradually expand to three or five cun, or even six or seven cun. The shape resembles a beehive, potentially having dozens of openings, each discharging yellow-white pus. The swelling spreads, and the sore surface becomes fully necrotic. After necrotic tissue falls off, new flesh grows; red, fresh, and moist appearance indicates a favorable prognosis. Discharge of black fluid, foul odor, and flat collapse indicate an unfavorable prognosis. Throughout the course, internal and external treatments follow the "Carbuncle and Ulcer Swelling" and "Ulcer" sections. In patients with cold constitution, if ulceration does not occur by the eighth or ninth day, apply Shendeng Zhao (Divine Lamp Moxibustion) daily until it ulcerates at the expected time.
Formula: Shendeng Zhao (Divine Lamp Moxibustion) (see Volume 1).
[Formula Song] Du Ju (Woodworm Carbuncle) arises in Quepen (ST12). Initially like a bean, it grows large like a plum, becoming hard, purple, and painful. Accompanied by alternating chills and fever and dysuria, garlic moxibustion is suitable. This condition arises from accumulated Heat in the Gallbladder and Stomach.
[Note] Also known as Quepen Ju (Clavicle Carbuncle) or Xiaogu Ju (Bone-Carving Carbuncle), this condition occurs above the chest and below the neck, in the soft depression of the Quepen (ST12) acupoint inside the clavicle. It is caused by accumulated Heat in the Gallbladder and Stomach meridians. Initial symptoms include alternating chills and fever, stiffness and tension of sinews and bones, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, and scanty, dysuric urine. Initially like a bean, it enlarges to the size of a plum, becoming purple, hard, and painful. Initially, apply moxibustion using mugwort cones placed on slices of single-head garlic. Internally administer Duoming Dan (Life-Rescuing Pill) to induce sweating, followed by Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder) to promote urination. When pus formation is imminent, administer Neituo Huangqi San (Internal Support Astragalus Powder). For severe deficiency of Qi and Blood, administer Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Tonifying Decoction) to support and tonify. All other internal and external treatments follow the "Carbuncle and Ulcer Swelling" and "Ulcer" sections. This condition requires urgent internal support treatment; if neglected, leading to necrosis and sinking, the sore will fail to close, resulting in a fatal outcome.
Formula: Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder)
Composition: Huashi (Talcum, 6 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw, 1 liang)
Grind into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with decoction prepared from Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus Stem).
[Formula Song] Liuyi San treats urinary retention (Long Bi), effectively removing Dryness, Heat, and Dampness. Talcum and Licorice ground into powder, taken with Juncus effusus tea for immediate relief.
Alternative Formula: Duoming Dan (Life-Rescuing Pill) (see Back部的 Yin-Yang Qi Carbuncle); Neituo Huangqi San (Internal Support Astragalus Powder) (see Back部的 Middle Da Shou); Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Tonifying Decoction) (see Ulcer Section).
