Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) has twenty-four acupoints along the midline of the body. Huiyin (CV1) is hidden between the two yins (anterior and posterior orifices). Anterior to Qugu (CV2) is Zhongji (CV3); Guan Yuan (CV4), Shimen (CV5), and Qihai (CV6) follow in sequence. Yinjiao (CV7), Shenque (CV8), and Shuifen (CV9) are located here; Xiawan (CV10), Jianli (CV11), and Zhongwan (CV12) are anteriorly placed. Shangwan (CV13), Juque (CV14), and Jiutui (CV15) connect; Zhongting (CV16), Danzhong (CV17), and Yutang (CV18) link together. Zigong (CV19), Huagai (CV20), and Xuanji (CV21) follow the course of Xuanji; Tiantu (CV22), Lianquan (CV23), and Chengjiang (CV24) are at the end.
Text:
Huiyin (CV1) of Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) is located between the two yins. Qugu (CV2) is secured in the depression at the pubic hair margin. Zhongji (CV3) is located four cun below the umbilicus; Guan Yuan (CV4) connects three cun below the umbilicus. Two cun below the umbilicus is named Shimen (CV5); one and a half cun below the umbilicus constitutes Qihai (CV6). One cun below the umbilicus is Yinjiao (CV7); the center of the umbilicus is Shenque (CV8). One cun above the umbilicus is Shuifen (CV9); two cun above the umbilicus lists Xiawan (CV10). Three cun above the umbilicus is named Jianli (CV11); four cun above the umbilicus is Zhongwan (CV12). Five cun above the umbilicus is Shangwan (CV13); Juque (CV14) is six cun and five fen above the umbilicus. Jiutui (CV15) is five fen below the xiphoid process bone; Zhongting (CV16) is taken six cun below Danzhong (CV17). Danzhong (CV17) is indeed between the two breasts; Yutang (CV18) is governed by one cun and six fen above Danzhong (CV17); Zigong (CV19) is three cun and two fen above Danzhong (CV17); Huagai (CV20) is raised at four cun and eight fen above Danzhong (CV17) (four cun eight fen noted in parentheses). Xuanji (CV21) is five cun and eight fen above Danzhong (CV17); one cun above Xuanji (CV21) is the protrusion of Tiantu (CV22). Tiantu (CV22) is approximately four cun below the laryngeal prominence; Lianquan (CV23) is at the tip of the mandible. Chengjiang (CV24) is below the lower lip ridge in front of the chin; Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) runs along the interior of the abdominal midline.
Notes: [1] Huiyin (CV1) is located in the middle between the anterior and posterior orifices; it is the starting point of Ren Mai (Conception Vessel), Du Mai (Governing Vessel), and Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel). Du Mai (Governing Vessel) travels from Huiyin (CV1) along the back; Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) travels from Huiyin (CV1) along the abdomen; Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) travels from Huiyin (CV1) down to the feet.
[2] Ascending from Huiyin (CV1), to the depression at the pubic hair margin above the transverse bone, where the arterial pulse can be felt under pressure, this is Qugu (CV2), five cun below the umbilicus.
[3] Ascending from Qugu (CV2), at four cun below the umbilicus, is Zhongji (CV3).
[4] Ascending from Zhongji (CV3), at three cun below the umbilicus, is Guan Yuan (CV4).
