Upper Compilation: External Treatment Methods - Explanation of Instruments
[1] Diezhuan (Stacked Bricks): Use six bricks, stacking three on the left and three on the right, with both feet stepping upon them.
[2] Explanation of Usage:
<1> For cases involving the chest, abdomen, axilla, and hypochondrium where contusions or collisions cause compression injuries, resulting in a depressed and misaligned sternum.
<2> First, instruct the patient to grasp a rope with both hands and step on the bricks. The practitioner holds the patient's lower back, removing one brick from each side at a time. Instruct the patient to straighten their body and expand their chest. After a short while, remove another brick from each side, again instructing the patient to straighten their body and expand their chest. Repeat this process three times until the feet touch the ground. This allows the qi to flow smoothly and blood stasis to dissipate, thereby raising the depressed area and straightening the curvature.
<3> Wrap the chest tightly with a bamboo mat and secure it firmly with eight wide belts, ensuring not to bind so tightly as to obstruct breathing.
<4> The patient should sleep supine; prone or lateral sleeping is prohibited. Place a pillow under the waist to prevent left-right movement.

Upper Compilation: External Treatment Methods - Limbs Region
[1] Jianjia Gu (Scapular Bone): Refers to the bone at the shoulder end, specifically the upper ridge of the glenoid cavity of the scapula.
[2] The glenoid cavity accommodates the proximal end of the humerus. This junction is named "Jianjie" (Shoulder Joint), which is the suture line where the scapula and humerus meet. It is commonly known as "Tunkou" or "Jiantou" (Shoulder Head).
[3] The lower part attaches to the back, appearing plate-like like wings, named "Jianjia" or "Jianbo," commonly referred to as "Banzi Gu" (Plate Bone).
[4] If the aforementioned areas suffer contusion injuries:
<1> The arm will inevitably flex backward, the joint space will separate, and lifting or forward extension becomes impossible; the limb can only twist behind the ribs.
<2> Qi and blood accumulate congestedly in the elbow, causing swelling resembling a pestle. The swelling does not extend beyond the wrist. The pulses in both wrists become surprisingly full and distended due to stagnant blood.
<3> If the swollen area experiences fixed, needle-like pain, the blood will likely transform into pus. Consequently, the wrists and palms may become cold or numb.
[5] If the humerus is dislocated/protruding:
<1> Push the protruding bone backward into the joint socket. Then, manipulate the humeral tendons inward. This will restore the humerus, elbow, forearm, and wrist to their proper positions.
<2> Internally administer Bujin Wan (Tendon-Replenishing Pill); externally apply Wanling Gao (Ten-Thousand Spirits Plaster). For hot washing, use Haitongpi Tang (Picrodera Decoction). Alternatively, apply Baijiaoxiang San (Styrax Powder) or smear Jinfeicao Zhi (Boehmeria Juice), which is also effective.
