[Verse] Those bitten by the Shegong insect (a type of toxic bug) will inevitably experience itching and pain; in severe cases, flesh and bone may rot into ulcers. Apply crushed fermented soybean (Douchi) externally, and wash with Angelica dahurica (Baizhi) decoction. If the skin is already ulcerated, applying cuttlebone (Haipiaoxiao) powder is effective.
[Note] The Shegong insect refers to various hairy bugs found in trees, also known as Waci insect. Upon contact, it can shoot toxic hairs at humans. Initially, there is itching followed by pain, feeling like a burn. Over time, external itching and internal pain occur, leading to the rotting of flesh and bone, rendering most medicines ineffective. First, apply a paste of fermented soybean (Douchi) and refined oil to the painful and itchy area; after a short while, the toxic hairs become visible. Remove the paste and wash the area with a decoction of Angelica dahurica (Baizhi). If the flesh has already rotted, sprinkling cuttlebone (Haipiaoxiao) powder on the wound leads to recovery.
[Verse] Bitten by an earthworm, one receives toxic qi, causing eyebrows and beard hair to fall out without trace. The method is to frequently wash with salt water; over time, the toxicity naturally dissipates.
[Note] An earthworm bite involves exposure to earthworm toxicity. It causes the loss of eyebrows and beard, resembling leprosy, except for the peculiar sensation of hearing worms chirping inside the body at night. It is advisable to frequently wash the affected area with salt water, allowing the toxicity to naturally leave the body.
[Verse] Tianshe Chuang (Heavenly Snake Sore) erupts within the skin; its appearance resembles leprosy but is not true leprosy. This condition arises from spider venom in the grass, compounded by dew infiltration.
[Note] This condition manifests on the skin, appearing similar to leprosy but distinct. It is caused by bites from flower spiders (Xie) in the grass, further aggravated by exposure to dew. The treatment should involve drinking a decoction of Gastrodia elata (Qinjiao) alone slowly; externally, applying Erwei Badu San (Two-Ingredient Antidote Powder) is highly effective.
Formula: Erwei Badu San (See Swelling and Ulcer Section)
[Verse] Qu Sou (a multi-legged bug) hides in wall crevices and sprays urine at people. Accidental contact causes large blisters on the skin. The pain feels like a hot iron brand, starting the size of a rice grain and growing to the size of a bean. Treat with salt water and Erwei Badu San.
[Note] This insect, also called Duojiao Chong (multi-legged bug), hides in wall gaps and sprays urine at humans. If poisoned by its urine, it causes blistering on the skin with pain akin to branding with fire. Initially, lesions are the size of rice grains, later enlarging to the size of beans. It is suitable to apply salt water-soaked cotton to the sores, changing it frequently until they subside. In severe cases where toxicity spreads over the whole body with incessant itching, applying Erwei Badu San externally is very effective.
