7. The conditions and treatments for nuns, female Taoist priests, unmarried women, and widows differ from those of ordinary people and should not be treated in the same manner as common women. If the pulse is wiry (Xian) and extends beyond the Cun (inch) position, it indicates that their will is unfulfilled, pointing to an illness caused by emotional factors. When regulating menstruation, if one fails to recognize this etiology first, how can one clarify the complex and mixed symptoms? Treatment should focus on harmonizing the Liver (Gan), regulating the Spleen (Pi), resolving Qi stagnation, and clearing the Heart (Xin). By treating according to the specific syndrome, success can be achieved.

[Note] "Shi" refers to a female Taoist priest; "Ni" refers to a Buddhist nun; "Shi" refers to an unmarried woman who has not yet married; "Gua" refers to a young widow. "Yi hu zhi" means that the treatment differs from that of ordinary women. For instance, if the pulse is wiry and exceeds the Cun position, it indicates unfulfilled aspirations, which is an illness caused by emotional disturbances. In order to regulate all menstrual disorders in women, if this cause is not recognized first, one cannot understand the difficult-to-describe symptoms arising from mixed emotional states. To treat this syndrome, one should harmonize the Liver, regulate the Spleen, resolve depression/stagnation, and clear the Heart. Treating according to the syndrome will naturally yield results.

Sanhe Decoction (Three Harmonies Decoction)
8. For Stone Leiomyoma (Shi Xia) with exterior syndromes, Wu Zhu Yu Tang (Evodia Decoction) is indicated; for interior syndromes, Hupo San (Amber Powder) is most suitable. For uterine vessel obstruction, use Sanhe Tang combined with Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), containing Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Bo He (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), and Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus).

[Note] Cold pathogen lodging in the uterus causes blood to stagnate and fail to circulate, forming Shi Xia (Stone Leiomyoma). If there are many exterior syndromes, Wu Zhu Yu Tang (Evodia Decoction) should be used to warm and disperse; if interior syndromes predominate, Hupo San (Amber Powder) should be used to attack and remove stasis. Uterine vessel obstruction forces Qi upward to press upon the Lung (Fei), preventing Heart Qi from descending, thus resulting in amenorrhea. Sanhe Tang should be used to clear heat; it consists of Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) combined with Liangge San (Cooling the Chest Powder), which includes Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Bo He (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus), and Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix). If the stool is loose, remove Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) and Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma).

Liujun Dihuang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill)
9. For stomach heat scorching blood, use Yuzhu San (Jade Candle Powder); for blood loss or blood depletion, use Yangrong Tang (Nourishing the Vigor Decoction). Liujun Dihuang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) treats damage from sexual exhaustion; Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Fu Ling (Poria), Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), and Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) are effective. For amenorrhea due to blood depletion from excessive lactation, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Great Tonifying Decoction) must be used.

[Note] The Classics state: "Diseases of the Two Yangs originate in the Heart and Spleen, leading to amenorrhea in women." The Two Yangs refer to the Stomach (Wei). Excessive stomach heat scorches the blood, causing the Blood Sea (Chong Mai) to dry up, resulting in amenorrhea. Yuzhu San (Jade Candle Powder) should be used to drain stomach heat, after which menstruation will resume spontaneously. If there is a history of hematemesis or epistaxis, or excessive childbirth, or sexual excess damaging Yin blood, or excessive lactation damaging blood and fluids, all these can lead to amenorrhea. For significant blood loss, Yangrong Tang (Nourishing the Vigor Decoction) is the primary prescription; for sexual excess, Liujun Dihuang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) is used to nourish, consisting of Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Bai Fu Ling (Poria cum Ramo Quercus), Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), and Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata); for excessive lactation, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Great Tonifying Decoction) is used to tonify.
