Jing Xie (Diarrhea due to Fright) results in diarrhea caused by fright. The patient experiences restless sleep at night and is easily startled during the day. The stool is thick, mucilaginous, and greenish. Treatment should focus on calming fright and nourishing the Spleen; administer Tongling San (Spirit-Calming Powder).
[Note]
Jing Xie (Diarrhea due to Fright) occurs when a child with weak Qi suffers from fright, leading to this condition.
The symptoms include restless sleep at night and being easily startled during the day. The stool is thick and mucilaginous, colored green like moss.
Treatment requires calming the Heart and suppressing Liver Wind. First, use Yipi Zhenjing San (Spleen-Nourishing and Fright-Calming Powder) to settle the fright,
followed by Yangpi Wan (Spleen-Nourishing Pill) to regulate the Spleen, thereby achieving a cure.
(Yipi Zhenjing San) Renshen (Ginseng Radix) 1.5 qian, Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, stir-fried with soil) 3 qian, Fuling (Poria), Zhusha (Cinnabar) 8 fen, Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) 2 qian, Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried) 5 fen. Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with Dengxin Tang (Juncus Decoction).
(Yangpi Wan) Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, stir-fried with soil), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) each 3 qian; Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, vinegar-fried), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, baked), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, ginger-fried), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) each 2 qian; Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, stir-fried), Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus), Suosharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus) each 1 qian (stir-fried). Failure to protect the umbilical stump after cutting exposes the infant to cold. The stool contains greenish-white matter, accompanied by abdominal pain and borborygmus. Sanhan Heqi Yin (Cold-Dispersing and Qi-Harmonizing Decoction) is highly effective; Wenbu Tiaozhong Tang (Warming, Tonifying, and Middle-Regulating Decoction) is most efficacious.
[Note]
Qihan Xie (Umbilical Cold Diarrhea) is mostly caused by improper care after umbilical cord separation, allowing wind-cold pathogens to invade the body and transmit to the Large Intestine, resulting in cold-type diarrhea.
Symptoms include stool containing greenish-white matter, abdominal pain, and borborygmus.
First, use Heqi Yin (Qi-Harmonizing Decoction) to warm and disperse the pathogen, then use Tiaozhong Tang (Middle-Regulating Decoction) to warm and tonify, thus addressing the root cause effectively.
(Heqi Yin) Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Zisu (Perillae Folium), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Chiling (Poria with Red Host), Douchi (Sojae Semen Praeparatum), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, ginger-fried), Zhigancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried).
Use Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Dengxin (Junci Medulla) as guides, decoct with water and take orally.
(Fang Ge - Formula Verse)
Heqi Yin possesses warming and dispersing properties; Cangzhu, Zisu, and Fangfeng work together.
Chiling, Douchi, and Huoxiang Ye (Agastaches Folium), along with Chenpi, Houpo, and Gancao, are combined.
(Tiaozhong Tang) Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Fuling (Poria), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, stir-fried with soil), Zhigancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, baked), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, processed), Suosharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus).
Use Weijiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, baked) as a guide, decoct with water and take orally.
(Fang Ge - Formula Verse)
For Qihan Xie (Umbilical Cold Diarrhea), use Tiaozhong Tang; Renshen and Baizhu with baked Muxiang.
Huoxiang and Fuling combined with Xiangfu; Suosharen and Zhigancao, guided by baked Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma).
