肿在下者因湿起，急宜利水可安然，外法贴脐如神妙，内服沈香琥珀丸。

下身肿者，腰脐至两足皆肿也，
病因脾经湿热所成，急用利水之法，
经所谓洁净府是也，外用贴脐法，内服沈香琥珀丸。
(贴脐法) 巴豆四钱去油 水碾粉二钱 硫黄一钱 共研匀成饼，
先用新棉一片，包药布脐上，外用帛缚时许，自然泻下恶水，
待下三五次，去药以粥补佳。
(沈香琥珀丸)
苦葶苈子一两五钱 郁李仁一两五钱去皮 防己七钱五分
沈香一两五钱 陈皮七钱五分去自 琥珀五钱 杏仁五钱去皮尖炒
苏子五钱 赤苓五钱 泽泻五钱 以上共为细末，炼蜜为丸，如梧桐子大，
以麝香为衣，每服一钱，量儿大小与之，用滚白水下。

通身皆肿属风湿，外散内利最相宜，峻攻则用疏凿饮，和剂茯苓导水医，
水上攻肺喘不卧，苏葶定喘最相宜，水停中州胀急满，舟车神佑量攻之。

通身肿者，头面手足皆肿也，
得病之由，内停湿饮，外感风邪，风湿相搏，
水道不利，外攻肌表，因而作肿也，
重者用疏凿饮峻攻之，轻者用茯苓导水汤和解之，
若水停上攻于肺，喘急不得卧者，以苏葶丸泻之，
水停中州胀满者，以舟车神佑丸攻之。

紫苏 陈皮 白术土炒 木香 桑白皮炒 麦冬去心 赤茯苓 泽泻 木瓜
大腹皮 缩砂仁 槟榔 引用灯心水煎服。

和解茯苓导水汤，紫苏陈皮术木香，桑皮麦冬赤苓泽，木瓜大腹缩槟榔。
(苏葶丸) 方见痰饮喘急。
(舟车神佑丸)
甘遂 芫花 大戟各一两俱醋炒 大黄二两 黑牵牛四两头末
青皮炒 陈皮 木香 槟榔各五钱 轻粉一钱 以上共为细末，水丸如椒目大，
小儿二丸三丸，大儿五丸七丸，量服之，滚白水送下。

水肿门
Swelling located in the lower part arises from dampness; it is urgent to employ diuresis (promoting urination) to ensure safety. External treatment can utilize the navel-pasting method, which is miraculous, while internally, Chenxiang Hupo Wan (Aromatic Amber Pill) should be administered.
[Note]
Lower body swelling refers to edema extending from the waist and umbilicus down to both feet.
The etiology involves damp-heat accumulation in the Spleen meridian; therefore, diuretic methods must be urgently applied.
This corresponds to the classic saying "cleanse the bladder" (clearing the Yang-bladder to promote urination). Externally, apply the navel-pasting method; internally, administer Chenxiang Hupo Wan (Aromatic Amber Pill).
(Navel-Pasting Method)
Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 巴豆) four qian (de-oiled), processed into powder via water levigation two qian; Realgar (Liuhuang, 硫黄) one qian. Grind together uniformly and form into a cake.
First, take a piece of new cotton wool, wrap the medicine, and place it on the umbilicus. Secure externally with a cloth bandage for approximately one meal's duration. Naturally, foul water will be discharged through diarrhea.
After three to five episodes of diarrhea, remove the medication; nourishing the stomach with congee is advisable.
(Chenxiang Hupo Wan / Aromatic Amber Pill)
Descurainiae Semen Lepidii seu Lepidii Semen (Tinglizi, 苦葶苈子) one liang five qian; Prunus armeniaca kernel (Yuliren, 郁李仁) one liang five qian (skin removed); Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix (Fangji, 防己) seven qian five fen; Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum (Chenxiang, 沉香) one liang five qian; Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, 陈皮) seven qian five fen (albedo removed); Succinum (Hupo, 琥珀) five qian; Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren, 杏仁) five qian (skin and tip removed, stir-fried); Perillae Fructus (Suzi, 苏子) five qian; Poria Cocos (Chiling, 赤茯苓) five qian; Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻) five qian.
Grind all above into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to make pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Coat with Moschus (Shexiang, 麝香). Take one qian per dose, adjusted according to the child's age, washed down with boiling plain water.

Edema Section
Generalized edema belongs to wind-dampness; dispersing externally and draining internally is most appropriate. For severe cases, use Shuozao Yin (Dredging and Scouring Decoction) for aggressive purgation; for milder cases, use Heji Fuling Dao Shui Tang (Poria Water-Guiding Decoction) for harmonization.
If water qi attacks the Lung causing asthma and inability to lie flat, Suting Dingchuan Wan (Perilla and Tingli Asthma-Calming Pill) is most suitable.
If water stagnates in the Middle Jiao causing abdominal distension and urgency, Zhouche Shenyou Wan (Boat-Chariot Divine Blessing Pill) may be used for targeted purgation.

Generalized edema involves swelling of the head, face, hands, and feet.
The cause lies in internal retention of damp-fluids and external contraction of wind-pathogens. Wind and dampness contend with each other,
obstructing the water passages. Water attacks the muscle layer externally, resulting in swelling.
For severe cases, use Shuozao Yin (Dredging and Scouring Decoction) for aggressive purgation; for mild cases, use Fuling Dao Shui Tang (Poria Water-Guiding Decoction) for harmonization.
If water stagnates and attacks the Lung, causing rapid asthma and inability to lie down, use Suting Wan (Perilla and Tingli Pill) to purge.
If water stagnates in the Middle Jiao causing distension, use Zhouche Shenyou Wan (Boat-Chariot Divine Blessing Pill) to purge.
(Shuozao Yin / Dredging and Scouring Decoction)
Phytolaccae Radix (Shanglu, 商陆), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao, 秦艽), Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo, 羌活), Zanthoxyli Semen (Jiaomu, 椒目), Akebiae Caulis (Mutong, 木通), Phaseoli Semen Rubrum (Chixiaodou, 赤小豆), Poria Cocos Cortex (Fulingpi, 茯苓皮), Arecae Pericarpium (Dafupi, 大腹皮), Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻), Areca Seed (Binglang, 槟榔).
Decoct these ingredients using ginger peel-infused water.

Shuozao Yin treats wind-damp edema, externally dispersing and internally draining with Shanglu, Qinjiao, Qianghuo;
Jiaomu, Mutong, Chixiaodou, Fulingpi, Dafupi, Zexie, Binglang.
(Fuling Dao Shui Tang / Poria Water-Guiding Decoction)
Perillae Folium (Zisu, 紫苏), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, 陈皮), Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu, 白术) stir-fried with soil, Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang, 木香), Morus Cortex (Sangbaipi, 桑白皮) stir-fried, Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 麦冬) heart removed, Poria Cocos (Chiling, 赤茯苓), Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻), Chaenomelis Fructus (Mu Gua, 木瓜),
Arecae Pericarpium (Dafupi, 大腹皮), Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Suosharen, 缩砂仁), Areca Seed (Binglang, 槟榔).
Decoct these ingredients using Juncus effusus (Dengxincao, 灯心草)-infused water.

Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qingpi, 青皮) stir-fried, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, 陈皮), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang, 木香), Areca Seed (Binglang, 槟榔) five qian each, Calomelas (Qingfen, 轻粉) one qian.
Grind all into fine powder. Make water pills the size of Zanthoxyli seeds. Children: two to three pills; older children: five to seven pills. Administer according to condition, washed down with boiling plain water.
