[Formula Song] Fan Hua Chuang (Flower-like Ulcer) arises after the ulceration of sores; it has a large head and small stalk, resembling a protruding mushroom. Although painless and non-itchy, it bleeds upon touch. It is caused by blood dryness, liver deficiency, and anger-induced stagnation.
[Note] This condition occurs when granulation tissue protrudes from the ulcerated sore after the initial wound breaks down, taking on a mushroom-like shape with a large head and narrow base. The more it protrudes, the more it everts. Although not severely painful or itchy, accidental contact causes persistent bleeding, leading to deficiency over time. The root cause lies in liver deficiency and qi-blood dryness induced by anger. It is advisable to take Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder). Externally, apply equal parts of charcoal made from smoked sour plums (Wumei) and calomel (Qingfen), ground into powder and sprinkled on the lesion; alternatively, applying charcoal made from purslane (Maxianxian) mixed with lard is also effective.
Formula: Xiaoyao San (See "Upper Hand-on Back" section for the back).
[Formula Song] Xue Feng Chuang (Blood Wind Eczema) manifests all over the body; lesions resemble millet grains, accompanied by intense itching and oozing of serous fluid. It involves wind-damp-heat affecting the Liver, Lung, and Spleen meridians. Prolonged stagnation leads to dryness and itching, resulting in bloody exudate upon scratching.
[Note] This syndrome results from damp-heat in the Liver and Spleen meridians, compounded by external wind pathogens invading the skin and stagnating in the Lung meridian, causing widespread sores. The lesions resemble millet grains, with unbearable itching. Upon scratching, serous fluids and lipids ooze out, forming patches that cause irritability, thirst, and intensified itching, which is milder during the day and worse at night. It is advisable to take Xiaofeng San (Wind-Expelling Powder) and externally apply Xionghuang Jiedu San (Realgar Antidote Powder). If wind pathogens remain stagnant in the skin for a long time, they consume blood and generate fire, doubling the itching, causing insomnia, and leading to bloody exudate upon scratching. Symptoms include mental restlessness, dry constipation, dry throat without thirst, indicating fire-dryness and blood insufficiency. It is advisable to take Dihuang Yin (Rehmannia Decoction) and externally apply Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment) and Runji Gao (Moisturizing Muscle Ointment); combined use is effective. Avoid consuming chili peppers, alcohol, chicken, goose, and other foods that stir up wind.
Formula: Xionghuang Jiedu San
Composition: Realgar (Xionghuang), Calcined Aragonite (Hanshuishi - calcined until red-hot and cooled, one liang each); Alum (Baifan - raw, four liang).
Grind into fine powder, mix with boiling water, and apply externally.
[Formula Song] Xionghuang Jiedu San contains calcined aragonite and four liang of alum ground together; for Xue Feng Chuang with millet-grain-like itching, apply with boiling water to drain toxins and dampness.
Another Formula: Dihuang Yin
Composition: Raw Rehmania Root (Shengdihuang), Prepared Rehmania Root (Shoudihuang); Raw Polygonum Multiflorum (Sheng Heshouwu, three qian each), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui, two qian); Moutan Bark (Danpi), Black Ginseng (Heishen); Stir-fried Tribulus Terrestris (Chao Baijili, de-spined), Stir-fried Bombyx Batryticatus (Chao Jiangcan, one qian five fen each); Safflower (Honghua), Raw Licorice Root (Sheng Gancao, five fen each).
Decoct in water and take morning and evening.
[Formula Song] Dihuang Yin treats Xue Feng Chuang, addressing severe itching, insomnia, and blood dryness injury; it includes Heshouwu, Danpi, Shengdihuang, Shoudihuang, Heishen, Danggui, Baijili, Gancao, Honghua, and Jiangcan.
