[Verse] When an infant is born with a congenital tumor (congenital tumor), the root cause lies in fetal heat and blood stasis. Once the lesion turns purple, gradually enlarges, and matures to suppuration, puncturing it to drain the pus will lead to natural recovery.
[Note] This condition arises from accumulated heat in the mother during pregnancy, causing heat in the uterus, compounded by blood stasis and coagulation. It commonly occurs on the head and between the chest and breasts. Initially, it resembles a plum pit, gradually enlarging to the size of a steamed bun, appearing purple and slightly hard, with diffuse swelling but little pain. If present at birth, one must wait until after one month when the lesion matures and suppurates before puncturing; draining red-bean-like fluid or pus water will cause the swelling to subside. Initially, administer Wufu Huadu Dan (Five Blessings Detoxifying Pill) and apply Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment); after ulceration, apply Shengji Yuhong Gao (Muscle-Regenerating Jade Red Ointment) to promote tissue regeneration and wound closure. If the disease develops after one month, one must wait for the pus to swell and mature before puncturing. If the tumor skin contains blood threads, see the section on "Red Thread Tumor".
Formulas: Wufu Huadu Dan (see Chiyou Dandu); Huanglian Gao (see Nasal Ulcer); Shengji Yuhong Gao (see Ulcer Section).
[Verse] Infants born with red thread tumors have blood threads in the skin due to congenital factors. Hidden fire in the kidneys resides within the essence, transmitted to offspring, making this disease difficult to cure completely.
[Note] This condition is also known as a congenital tumor. It has no fixed location, starts small and grows larger. Infants may develop it shortly after birth or between one and two years of age. The tumor skin is red with internal blood threads, and some cases rupture spontaneously. Although the treatment method is similar to that of general congenital tumors, this specific condition stems from congenital hidden fire in the kidneys, where the essence contains blood threads. Transmitted via Qi to the son, it eventually transforms into a fire syndrome, and the ulcerated area is difficult to heal.
[Verse] Lian Chuang (Nipple Eczema/Dermatitis) initially appears between the eyebrows and head, caused by fetal blood heat entangled with wind pathogens. Symptoms include dryness, itching, white scales, or wet exudate. When heat is extreme, red halos appear in patches resembling Huo Dan (Fire Carbuncle).
[Note] This condition occurs on the infant's head and neck or at the ends of the eyebrows, also known as Nipple Eczema. It presents with itching, white scales, and a shape resembling tinea or scabies. Caused by fetal blood heat and lingering wind pathogens after birth, this is classified as Dry Lian Chuang. If mistakenly treated with hot washing, causing millet-like rashes on the skin, excessive scratching, yellow fluid exudation, and spread over the body, it becomes Wet Lian Chuang. Both types are treated with Xiaofeng Daochi Tang (Wind-Dispersing and Heart-Clearing Decoction). For dry type, apply Runji Gao (Moisturizing Muscle Ointment); for wet type, sprinkle equal parts of tender Huangbai powder (Phellodendron Bark) and Talcum Powder. If the crust is too thick, reapply Runji Gao. In cases of extreme heat causing fiery skin with wandering red patches resembling Huo Dan, treatment should not focus on astringency but rather on venting outward. Administer Wufu Huadu Dan and apply Runji Gao externally. For severe itching, apply Wuyun Gao (Dark Cloud Ointment). Nursing mothers must avoid river/sea fish, poultry (chicken/goose), spicy foods, wind-aggravating items, and hair-trigger foods; gradual improvement will occur with proper care.
Formula: Xiaofeng Daochi Tang
Composition: Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Chifuling (Poria with Red Cochineal) (each 1 qian); Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, fried and ground), Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex); Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Flos), Nanboheye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium); Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) (each 8 fen), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, wine-fried); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw) (each 3 fen); Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) 50 cun. Decoct in water and administer slowly.
[Verse] Xiaofeng Daochi Tang treats fetal Lian Chuang, dispersing wind and clearing heat with Arctii and Coptis; Dictamnus, Rehmannia, Poria, and Mint; Lonicera, Juncus, Akebia, and Licorice.
Another Formula: Wuyun Gao
Composition: Songxiang (Pini Resina) powder (2 liang), Liuhuang (Sulfur) powder (1 liang).
Grind uniformly, mix with Sesame Oil to form a paste, spread on Southern Green Cloth to a thickness of half a finger, roll into strips, and tie with thread. Soak in Sesame Oil for one day, remove, scrape off excess oil, ignite one end, and collect dripping oil under a coarse bowl by trimming ash. Soak the collected oil in cold water overnight to eliminate fire toxicity, then apply.
[Verse] Wuyun Gao applied to fetal Lian Chuang uses oil-mixed Pine Resin and Sulfur; spread on cloth, rolled, soaked in oil, ignited to extract ash-free oil for good effect.
Another Formula: Runji Gao (see Head Dandruff); Wufu Huadu Dan (see Chiyou Dandu).
