Note:
[37] To locate this acupoint, first have the patient sit upright with the spine curved and both arms extended straight. Rest the arms against the front of the knees to ensure proper alignment. Extend the hands so that the thumbs are level with the knee caps. Support the elbows with an object to prevent arm movement. Then, starting from the upper angle of the scapula, palpate downwards to the lower edge of the scapula. Between these points, there should be four ribs and three intercostal spaces. Based on the edge of the scapula, measure a distance approximately equal to the width of a side-wise inserted finger from the bone margin. Press into the empty space of one of these intervals; if a sensation of traction towards the shoulder is felt, this is the acupoint (Gaohuang, BL-43).
[38] Descending from Gaohuang to below the fifth thoracic vertebra, in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Shentang (BL-44).
[39] Descending from Shentang to below the sixth thoracic vertebra, 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is the Xixi Acupoint (□Xi, likely a textual variant or error for Xinshu BL-15 or a specific reaction point). Press heavily with the hand; if the patient cries out "Xixi" due to pain, this indicates the location of the acupoint, as it is identified by tenderness.
[40] Descending from Ganguan to below the seventh thoracic vertebra, in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright with shoulders spread. This is Ganguan (BL-48). *Note: The text identifies the point below the 7th vertebra as Ganguan, implying the previous point (below 6th) was distinct.*
[41] Descending from Ganguan to below the ninth thoracic vertebra, in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Hunmen (BL-47).
[42] Descending from Hunmen to below the tenth thoracic vertebra, in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Yanggang (BL-46).
[43] Descending from Yanggang to below the eleventh thoracic vertebra, 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Yishe (BL-45).
[44] Descending from Yishe to below the tenth thoracic vertebra (Textual Error: Should be 12th Thoracic Vertebra), in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Weicang (BL-44). *Translation strictly follows the source text "tenth".*
[45] Descending from Weicang to below the thirteenth thoracic vertebra (First Lumbar Vertebra), 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Huangmen (BL-52).
[46] Descending from Huangmen to below the fourteenth thoracic vertebra (Second Lumbar Vertebra), in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while sitting upright. This is Zhishi (BL-53).
[47] Descending from Zhishi to below the nineteenth thoracic vertebra (Fifth Lumbar Vertebra), 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while lying prone. This is Baohuang (BL-54).
[48] Descending from Baohuang to below the twenty-first sacral vertebra (Third Sacral Foramen area), in the depression located 3.5 cun lateral to the midline of the spine, take the point while lying prone. This is Zhibian (BL-54).
[49] Descending from Zhibian to below the coccygeal arm, in the crease above the yin bone (ischial tuberosity/coccyx region), is Chengfu (BL-36).
[50] From Yinmen, move diagonally upward one cun; flex the knee to locate it. This is Fuxi (BL-38, text "Fu□"). It is located one cun above Weiyang (BL-39).
[51] Descending from Fuxi, still six cun below Chengfu, take the point while flexing and extending the leg. This is Weiyang (BL-39), which joins with Huiyang (BL-35) in the center of the popliteal fossa.
[52] Descending from Weiyang, in the depression of the arterial pulse at the central crease of the popliteal fossa, have the person lift their chin to the ground and lie prone to locate. This is Weizhong (BL-40).
[53] Descending from Weizhong, three cun below the popliteal crease, is Heyang (BL-57).
[54] Descending from Heyang, in the depression at the center of the gastrocnemius muscle, seven cun above the heel, is Chengjin (BL-56).
[55] Descending from Chengjin, in the depression between the muscles at the lower tip of the calf, is Chengshan (BL-57).
[56] Diagonally from Chengshan, in the depression seven cun above the posterior aspect of the lateral malleolus, is Feiyang (BL-58).
[57] Descending from Feiyang, between the bone and tendon three cun above the lateral malleolus, is Fuyang (BL-59).
[58] Descending from Fuyang, five fen behind the lateral malleolus, in the depression above the calcaneus where the fine artery beats visibly, is Kunlun (BL-60, text "Kunyu").
[59] Descending from Kunlun, in the depression below the calcaneus, take the point while arching the foot. This is Pucan (BL-61).
[60] From Pucan, moving five fen below the lateral malleolus to the depression at the junction of white skin near the nail, is Shenmai (BL-62).
[61] Descending one cun from Shenmai, is Jinmen (BL-63).
[62] From Jinmen, moving along the lower border of the large bone on the lateral side of the foot, to the depression at the junction of red and white skin, is Jinggu (BL-64).
[63] By pressing, one can find the large bone behind the base of the little toe, named Jinggu. The acupoint is located below this bone.
[64] From Jinggu, moving to the lateral side of the little toe, to the depression before the proximal phalanx joint, is Tonggu (BL-65).
[65] From Tonggu, moving to the lateral side of the little toe, a distance like the width of a leek leaf from the corner of the nail, is Zhiyin (BL-67) (See Figure 58).
