[Prescription Verse] She Tou Ding (Snake-Head Carbuncle) presents with purple, hard, and painful vesicles; Tian She Du (Heavenly Snake Poison) presents with severe pain, stifling swelling, and redness. Both conditions involve fire pathogen of the Spleen Meridian;
observe which finger is affected to identify the specific meridian.
[Annotation] These two conditions both occur at the tips of the fingers. Although each finger has its own dedicated meridian, they all involve fire-toxin from the Spleen Meridian. She Tou Ding (Snake-Head Carbuncle) arises from the sinews and bones, with a deep root and heavy toxin. Initially, small vesicles appear, purple in color, painful, and hard as a nail. In the early stage, it is appropriate to administer Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pill) to induce sweating, and externally apply Xiong Huang San (Realgar Powder). Tian She Du (Heavenly Snake Poison) arises from the muscles, with slightly milder toxicity. Initially, there is stifling swelling without a head, red in color, and burning pain like fire. In the early stage, it is appropriate to administer Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pill) to induce sweating, and externally apply Xiong Huang Mu Li San (Realgar and Oyster Shell Powder). When pus is about to form in either condition, Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin (Immortal Formula for Preserving Life) should be administered. Once the pus is ripe, incision and drainage are performed, followed by external application of Hu Po Gao (Amber Plaster) to promote pus discharge and tissue regeneration. For those with deficiency who cannot heal, tonification is used. However, the fingers are areas where skin and flesh are thin; moxibustion is not suitable, nor is early incision. If moxibustion is mistakenly applied or incision is done too early, causing skin rupture and protrusion of granulation tissue, resulting in doubled pain, rapid healing will not occur. Be cautious.
The songs for the meridian diagrams of the fingers are found in the first volume.
Formula: Xiong Huang San (Realgar Powder)
Composition: Ming Xiong Huang (Realgar, 2 qian) Qing Fen (Calomel, 5 fen)
