[Prescription Verse] Fengwo Fa (Honeycomb Eruption, a type of carbuncle on the shoulder and back) resembles the shape of a honeycomb. It typically arises behind the shoulders and beside the spine. This condition strictly forbids the sore head pointing upward; one must urgently clear Heart Fire to prevent internal invasion by pathogenic toxins.
[Annotation] This condition often occurs behind the shoulders and alongside the vertebral column, resembling a honeycomb in shape. It is caused by accumulated heat in the Spleen Meridian combined with coagulated toxins from Heart Fire. Initially, it presents as high swelling like a turtle shell; if the swelling occupies only half of the back, the prognosis is mild. If the lesion spreads horizontally and obliquely with a large area, the condition is severe. It is appropriate to take Neishu Huanglian Tang (Internal Draining Coptis Decoction). If the sore head is sharp and points upward, it indicates extreme excess of Heart Fire, requiring prevention against toxic fire invading the Zang-Fu organs internally. There are also cases where the lesion is about one chi long, with the base spreading across the entire back, named Jingti Ju (Whole-Body Carbuncle), which belongs to highly dangerous toxicity. Upon initial sensation, one should immediately take Huanglian Xiaodu Yin (Coptis Detoxification Drink) to clear Heart Heat and resolve toxins, thereby avoiding internal invasion. For other internal and external treatment methods, refer to the sections on Carbuncles and Ulcers (Swelling/Ulceration stages).
Prescriptions: Neishu Huanglian Tang (see Section on Swelling/Ulceration); Huanglian Xiaodu Yin (see Head Hundred Face Huiju Carbuncle).
[Prescription Verse] Yinyang Erqi Ju (Yin-Yang Qi Carbuncle) arises beside the spine. The swelling fluctuates, appearing and disappearing, with hardness and softness changing unpredictably. This arises from internal disruption of the Seven Emotions, leading to disharmony of Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) Qi. Initial onset causes alternating chills and fever. If accompanied by intense thirst, clear consciousness, high swelling, and a surging pulse, pus forms after fourteen days; rupture indicates a favorable course (Shun). If there is no thirst, coma, diffuse swelling without a head, a fine pulse, failure to form pus at the expected time, and loss of appetite, it indicates an unfavorable course (Ni). Initially, administer Duoming Dan (Life-Restoring Pill) to alleviate chills and fever, followed by Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Formula for Preserving Life). For other internal and external treatment methods, refer to the sections on Carbuncles and Ulcers.
Prescription: Duoming Dan
Composition: Qinfen (Calomel), Baipi (White Arsenic, wrapped in flour and calcined), Shexiang (Musk) (each 5 fen); Baijian (Alum, calcined), Chensha (Cinnabar, used as coating), Xuexie (Dragon's Blood) (each 1 qian); Xionghuang (Realgar) (2 qian); Chansu (Toad Venom, dried, dissolved in wine for use) (2 qian); Ruxiang (Frankincense), Moyao (Myrrh); Hanshuishi (Calcite, calcined), Tonglü (Malachite) (each 2 qian); Woniu (Snail, with shell, 21 pieces).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. First, grind the snails into a paste, then uniformly mix with the aforementioned medicines. If the pills do not hold shape, add a small amount of good yellow wine and beat 300–500 times to form pills, sized like mung beans. Take 2–3 pills per dose. First, chew a 1-cun piece of scallion white until mashed, spit into the palm (males use left hand, females use right hand), wrap the pill in the scallion paste, and swallow with a large cup of warm, pure grain wine. Cover with blankets until sweating occurs. For severe cases, do not exceed three doses; do not overuse.
[Prescription Verse] Duoming Dan contains Calomel and Musk, along with Arsenic, Alum, Cinnabar, Dragon's Blood, and Realgar; Toad Venom, Frankincense, Myrrh, Calcite, Malachite, and Snails are the most effective ingredients.
Another Prescription: Xianfang Huoming Yin (see Section on Swelling/Ulceration).
