The Tongli (通里) acupoint is located posterior to the medial side of the wrist, one cun distal to the wrist crease. Indications include aphonia (loss of voice) where the patient wishes to speak but cannot, accompanied by restlessness and palpitations (Tongli). In excess patterns, there is heaviness in the four limbs, and redness of the head, cheeks, and face. If the patient's breathing is normally calm but they frequently yawn, and suffer from throat obstruction (Hou Bi) with difficulty in breath passage; in deficiency patterns, there is an inability to eat, sudden loss of voice (Bao Yin), and a lackluster complexion. The needle should be inserted slightly with a filiform needle, and one shall believe in its miraculous efficacy.

The Lieque (列缺) acupoint is located on the lateral aspect of the wrist, proximal to it. To locate it, cross the hands, and the point lies in the depression between the tendons at the tip of the index finger when placed over the radial styloid process. It is effective in treating hemi-cephalgia (one-sided headache) and generalized numbness due to wind-bi syndrome. It also treats frequent accumulation of phlegm and saliva rising upward, and trismus (lockjaw) where the teeth are clenched shut. If one understands the techniques of tonification and sedation, the cure will follow immediately upon needling.
Note: [1] Lieque (列缺) acupoint: The point is located 1.5 cun proximal to the transverse crease of the wrist on the radial side. When crossing both hands, it is found in the gap between the bone and tendon at the end of the index finger.
[2] Indications: Hemiplegic headache caused by wind, numbness and bi-syndrome affecting half of the body, obstruction of qi and phlegm, trismus, etc.

The principle regarding sitting directions for acupuncture and moxibustion in the four seasons should follow the natural order of the seasons. The directions of East, South, West, North, and the four diagonal corners (Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Northwest) are used to welcome the vital qi (Sheng Qi), which is rooted in the laws of Heaven.
Note: [1] Regarding the principles of avoiding unfavorable directions for acupuncture and moxibustion, *Yixue Rumen* (Introduction to Medicine) states: "In spring, sit facing West (back to East); in summer, sit facing North (back to South); in autumn, sit facing East (back to West); in winter, sit facing South (back to North)."
[2] These statements all contradict the direction of the vital qi of the four seasons and should not be followed as a standard.
[3] One should instead face East in spring, South in summer, West in autumn, and North in winter. During the four months when Earth is prosperous (the last month of each season), one should face the four diagonal corners to welcome the vital qi. This conforms to the heavenly principle and follows nature, which is correct.
