[Prescription Verse] Zuan Ya Gan (Drilling Tooth Ulcer) arises at the gum root, with protruding hard bone that is sharp and pointed. The pain is unbearable, like needle pricking. This condition is caused by accumulated heat in the Liver and Stomach meridians.
[Annotation] This condition is caused by accumulated heat in the Liver and Stomach meridians, manifesting as a bone tip piercing out from within the gum tissue like a thorn, causing extreme pain. It is common in children. The treatment method involves using a Pi Zhen (Bian Needle) to puncture the surrounding tissue at the affected site, extracting the tooth along with its root. If bleeding does not stop, apply wet paper patches, changing them twice until hemostasis is achieved. Internally administer Lu Hui Xiao Gan Yin (Aloe Vera Decoction for Eliminating Ulcers), and externally apply Bing Peng San (Ice and Borax Powder). Avoid rich and greasy foods; the tooth will regenerate as before.
Prescription: Lu Hui Xiao Gan Yin (Aloe Vera Decoction for Eliminating Ulcers)
Composition: Aloe vera (raw), Picrorhizae Rhizoma (Huhuanglian), Gypsum Fibrosum (calcined), Antelope Horn (shaved), Gardeniae Fructus (raw and crushed), Arctii Fructus (stir-fried and crushed), Bupleuri Radix (Yinchaihu), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), Rheum Palmatum (raw), Scrophulariae Radix (Yuanshen) (each 5 fen), Menthae Haplocalycis Folium (Boheye) (4 fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (3 fen).
Decoct two zhong of water with one qian of Zhu Ye (Bambusa Leaves) until reduced to six parts. Take after meals.
[Prescription Verse] Lu Hui Xiao Gan clears the Stomach and Liver, Ling Yang Jiao, Shigao, Zhizi, Niuxi, and Huhelian. Yin Hu, Jie Geng, Da Huang, Bo He, Gan Cao, Yuanshen, and Zhuye are decocted together.
Another Prescription: Bing Peng San (see Aphthous Ulcers in the Mouth section).
[Prescription Verse] Ya Ding (Toxic Carbuncle of the Tooth) forms in the dental fissures due to Stomach Fire; damp-heat in the Large Intestine can also cause it. Swelling resembles millet grains and extends to the cheek with pain. If accompanied by numbness and itching, it becomes Hei Ding (Black Carbuncle).
[Annotation] This condition is caused by fire-toxin in the Stomach meridian or damp-heat in the Taiyang meridian. It usually appears on either side of the dental fissures as a single swelling resembling a millet grain, with pain radiating to the cheek and neck. If accompanied by numbness and itching, with rupture releasing blood and serum and extreme pain, it is called Hei Ding (Black Carbuncle), attributed to kidney fire-toxin. All such cases should be punctured with the tip of a silver hairpin until blood appears, then applied with Ba Ding San (Carbuncle-Pulling Powder), followed by holding and slowly swallowing Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pill). If irritability and thirst occur, take Huang Lian Jie Du Tang (Coptis Decoction for Resolving Toxicity) for recovery. If neglected, the toxin may counter-attack the Heart, causing irritability and confusion, which indicates an adverse prognosis.
Prescription: Ba Ding San (Carbuncle-Pulling Powder)
Composition: Realgar (Qingshi), Alum (Baifan), Cinnabar (Zhusha), Sodium Chloride (Shiyan). (Heat a rusty iron knife red-hot, place the alum and salt on the knife, and calcine them.)
Mix equal parts. Grind into fine powder on a Ding day at Wu hour (noon), and store.
[Prescription Verse] Ba Ding San treats various carbuncle toxins; Qingshi, Baifan, Shiyan, and Zhushu. Mix equal parts, grind into powder, and apply to the affected area. It softens hardness and extracts roots with remarkable efficacy.
Another Prescription: Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pill) (see Carbuncles section).
Huang Lian Jie Du Tang (Coptis Decoction for Resolving Toxicity) (see Black Carbuncle in the Ear section).
