The "Treatise on Taking Minerals" states: For Jinshi Ling (Mineral Ice), if one encounters warm epidemic heat jaundice, take a small amount weighing one qian (approx. 3-5g depending on era, here likely referring to a specific unit or typo for liang/ounce in context of 'small amount', but text says 'one liang' later, let's stick to literal 'one liang' as per text '称一两'), mix with water and ingest, and the illness will immediately heal. If fever is caused by gold, jade, and other minerals, mix with water, weigh one liang (approx. 30-37g), and ingest it, especially if it has condensed into solid lumps. If the disease manifests in the upper body, take a small amount after eating; if it manifests in the lower body, take it on an empty stomach. Do not take too much. It is extremely cold in nature and has no contraindications.
Current examination: The "Da Qing Jing" states: An amount the size of a chicken egg, suitable for mixing with honey water and ingesting. Additionally, the "Waitai Mi Yao Fang" (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold for Emergencies) specifies taking one liang mixed with water.
The Formula for Jin Hong Dan (Gold-Mercury Pill): Primarily treats the activation of heat toxins from the Five Minerals (Wushi), and chronic consumptive diseases (Lao Sun) in both men and women. It addresses emaciation, boosts qi and strength, brightens the eyes, promotes hair growth, enhances complexion luster, eliminates poisons from all herbs, and cures everything except cold diseases.
Method of Administration: Take two to three pills or five to six pills daily, washed down with cold water. If heat symptoms are severe and active, take ten to twenty pills. It does not matter whether taken on an empty stomach or after meals.
Whenever preparing to take medicine, one should first bathe and observe abstinence, light incense, face the direction of vital energy (Sheng Qi), close the eyes, and vow/recite with utmost sincerity and reverence. Heaven and earth respond auspiciously, and all things transform accordingly. This spiritual efficacy is achieved through one's own diligence. Therefore, after finishing the ingestion of mineral stones and medicinal pills, reverence and faith are paramount; one must not be disrespectful or dismissive.
Yin Wan (Silver Pill) primarily treats all types of deficiency heat, brightens the eyes, suppresses deficiency wind, palpitations, epilepsy, and heart heat, eliminating all heat illnesses completely. Its efficacy cannot be fully described. Stop taking it once the illness resolves, regardless of the number of pills. There are no contraindications. Even if the silver content is less than five liang, any amount is acceptable. Take five pills after meals. One must not take purgative/laxative medicines concurrently.
