The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Fanhuachuang (Anti-flower ulcer), is caused by the interplay of wind-toxin and heat. Initially, it appears like a grain of rice; when the head breaks, blood flows out, followed by the growth of foul flesh. It gradually enlarges with a root, discharges pus, and the tissue spreads outward resembling a flower, hence the name "Fanhuachuang" (Anti-flower ulcer). For all kinds of foul ulcers that fail to heal for a long time, foul flesh may also protrude in an anti-flower shape.
The *Longmen Fang* (Longmen Formulas) provides a prescription for treating Fanhuachuang (Anti-flower ulcer):
Take willow branches and leaves, decoct them, and apply the liquid topically. This is highly effective.
Another prescription: Burn purslane (Portulaca oleracea) into ash and apply it to the lesion. Effective. (Note: The *Qianjin Fang* suggests crushing and applying it directly.)
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats Fanhuachuang (Anti-flower ulcer) and also chronic ulcers that have not healed for years:
Take the root of Arctii Fructus (Burdock root), cut it finely, cook it thoroughly, crush it, and mix it with lard collected in the twelfth lunar month to seal the lesion. Continue until healed. This formula is also applicable to all kinds of swelling, foul ulcers, and fistulas that do not heal for a long time, curing them effectively. It is extremely miraculous and effective.
Another prescription: Take spider web membrane and apply it to the ulcer. Change it frequently. This is miraculously effective.
The *Jiudan Danyan Fang* (Emergency Single-Tested Formulas) provides a prescription for treating Fanhuachuang (Anti-flower ulcer):
Burn salt into powder and apply it to the lesion. Effective.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Ulcers occurring between both ears and the nose/face, as well as on the sides of various orifices in the lower body, can erode deeply reaching bone and sinew. The condition worsens at the beginning of the lunar month and improves towards the end, as it rises and falls with the moon, hence named Yueshichuang (Moon-eating ulcer).
It further states: Ulcers appearing below the ears in children are also called Yueshi (Moon-eating). Folklore says that if a child points at the moon, the disease may be drawn into the ulcer. Ulcers arising in various orifices, if infested with parasites and failing to heal for a long time, may transform into fistulas.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Formulas of Master Ge) provides prescriptions for adults and children suddenly suffering from Yueshichuang (Moon-eating ulcer):
On the night of the full moon, collect rabbit feces in the evening, place them inside a toad's belly, burn them together into powder, and apply to the ulcer. Effective.
Another prescription: Apply the juice of Luomocao (a medicinal herb) topically.
Another prescription: Burn earthworm feces until red-hot, mix with lard, and apply.
The *Jiyan Fang* (Collected Proven Formulas) provides a prescription for treating Yueshichuang (Moon-eating ulcer):
Take drum skin roughly the size of a hand, soak it in three sheng (approx. 600ml) of pure vinegar overnight, then apply to the ulcer.
Another prescription: Boil dried abalone and sprinkle its broth onto the ulcer.
The *Fan Wang Fang* (Formulas of Fan Wang): Treats Yueshichuang (Moon-eating ulcer) and various foul ulcers:
Burn Qiudao (a medicinal herb) into powder and apply. If the ulcer is dry without discharge, mix with ointment and apply. Alternatively, apply Toad Ointment.
The *Ling Li Fang* (Formulas of Ling Li) provides the Cornus Root Powder prescription for treating Yueshicuang (Moon-eating ulcer):
Use two liang (approx. 75g) each of Cornus officinalis root and Phragmites communis root. Grind these two materials together, sift into fine powder, wash the ulcer with brine solution, and dust the powder on top. Apply three times daily.
The *Longhua Fang* (Longhua Formulas) provides a prescription for treating Yueshichuang (Moon-eating ulcer) where bone is exposed:
Mix Prunus armeniaca kernel (Apricot seed) with porcine fat and apply. This is beneficial.
