The *Bing Yuan Lun* (Treatise on the Causes and Manifestations of Diseases) states: Polyps in the vagina arise from deficiency and damage to the Bao Luo (uterine ligaments), imbalance of cold and heat, and invasion by wind pathogenic factors; when pathogenic factors enter the Yin region and contend with blood and Qi, polyps are generated. Their appearance resembles mouse breasts.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Formulas by Master Ge) for treating protruding vaginal polyps in women:
Soak five Wu Hui (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata, processed lateral root of Aconitum carmichaelii) in three Sheng (approx. 600ml) of Ku Jiu (fermented rice vinegar) for three days, then use it to wash the affected area, three or four times day and night. (This is identical to the *Yan Ling Tu*.)
Another formula: Take a pig liver, roast it until hot, and insert it into the vagina; worms will immediately emerge and attach to the liver.
The *Bing Yuan Lun* states: Labor and injury to the Bao Luo, deficiency and damage to the Zi Zang (uterus), and invasion by wind-cold cause cold to invade the Yin region, resulting in coldness of the genitals.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) for treating coldness of the Yin region to induce warmth:
Fill a cow's gallbladder with Shi Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus, fruit of Cornus officinalis) until full, dry it in the shade for one hundred days. Each time, take fourteen pieces, wrap them in silk/cotton, chew them thoroughly in the mouth, and insert them into the vagina. After a long while, a sensation of intense heat like fire will be felt.
Another formula for treating cold pain in the female Yin region:
Moxibustion on Guilai (ST29, Return Coming) acupoint, thirty moxa cones, repeated three times. The location is five Cun (approx. 15cm) lateral to Yu Quan (CV2, Jade Spring).
The *Yan Ling Tu* states: Formula for treating coldness of the female Yin region:
Shi Liu Huang (Realgar, Realgar) [Note: Context implies Sulfur, usually Dan Liu Huang, but text says Shi Liu Huang which can mean Realgar or native sulfur; given "wash" and context of warming, often Sulfur is used, but strictly translating term] (3 Fen) Pu Huang (Pollen Typhae, Pollen of Cattail) (2 Fen)
Grind these two ingredients into powder. Take a pinch made by three fingers (pronounced 'cuo') and add to one Sheng of hot water to wash the Yu Men (vaginal opening). (Use very hot water on the day of preparation.)
The *Bing Yuan Yan* (Verification of Disease Causes) states: Foul odor of the Yin region is due to cold in the Zi Zang (uterus); cold Qi contends with body fluids, accumulates, and rises to the Yin region, causing foul odor.
The *Yan Ling Tu* states: Formula for treating foul odor of the female Yin region:
Hu Pi (Oak Bark, bark of Quercus variabilis) (cut, 1 Sheng) Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, Licorice Root) (2 Liang) Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Chinese Angelica Root) (3 Liang)
Boil these ingredients in ten Dou (approx. 10 liters) of water until reduced to three Sheng. Strain out the dregs and wash the inside of the Yu Men. Wash twice daily. If the decoction becomes cold, add Er Chuang Zi (Fructus Cnidii, Fruit of Cnidium monnieri) and its roots/stems in an amount of 2 Fen.
Formula for treating cold and foul odor of the female Yin:
Bai Lian (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Red Peony Root) (1 Fen) Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi, Cinnamon Bark) (5 Fen) Ku Shen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, Sophora Root) (1 Fen) Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, Licorice Root) (1 Fen) Fu Zi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, Prepared Lateral Root of Aconitum) (1 Fen)
Chop these five herbs, boil in water, and wash with the decoction to achieve cure.
The *Bing Yuan Lun* states: Damage to the Bao Luo, deficiency and cold of the Zi Zang (uterus), and downward prolapse, also caused by excessive effort during childbirth, leading to prolapse of the Yin.
The *Qian Jin Fang* for treating downward protrusion:
Shu Jiao (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli, Sichuan Pepper Pericarp) (2 Fen) Wu Tou (Radix Aconiti, Aconite Root) (2 Fen) Bai Ji (Rhizoma Bletillae, Bletilla Rhizome) (2 Fen)
Sift these three ingredients. Wrap a measure equivalent to a square-inch spoon (Fang Cun Bi) in cotton/silk, insert into the vagina to a depth of three Cun. When warmth is felt in the abdomen, replace with a new packet.
Another formula for treating prolapse with Sulfur Powder:
Liu Huang (Sulfur, Sulfur) (2 Liang) Wu Zei Gu (Endo Sepiae, Cuttlefish Bone) (2 Fen) Wu Wei Zi (Fructus Schisandrae, Schisandra Berry) (3 Zhu)
Grind and sift these three ingredients. Apply the powder to the affected area. This is effective; apply multiple times daily.
The *Jing Xin Fang* for treating vaginal prolapse:
Fan Shi (Alumen, Alum) (two pieces the size of chicken eggs) Yan (Salt, Sodium Chloride) (one piece the size of a pellet)
Boil these two ingredients in three Sheng of water and use the decoction to wash. It will heal spontaneously.
The *Ge Shi Fang* for treating external prolapse of the female Yin:
Boil raw iron (Sheng Tie) in water until concentrated, and use the liquid to wash. Alum is also effective. (This is identical to the *Seng Shen Fang*.)
Another formula: Burn Si Qiao Lao (larvae of insects, specifically Tipula larvae) into powder, mix with Zhu Gao (Pig Fat, Suet), apply topically, and dust with Pu Huang (Pollen Typhae).
The *Ji Yao Fang* for treating vaginal prolapse: Roast Er Chuang Zi (Fructus Cnidii), wrap in cloth, and apply as a warm compress (ironing/pressing with heat).
The *Seng Shen Fang* for treating uterine prolapse using Er Chuang Zi wash:
Er Chuang Zi (Fructus Cnidii, Fruit of Cnidium monnieri) (1 Sheng) Cu Mei (Vinegar-Plum, Pickled Plum) (14 pieces)
Boil these two ingredients in five Sheng of water until reduced to two and a half Sheng. Use to wash, ten times daily.
The *Ji Yan Fang* for treating itching and prolapse of the female Yin:
Apply Che Qian Gao (Plantago Paste, paste made from Plantago seeds/herbs) to the affected area; it will heal.
The *Jing Xin Fang* for treating uterine prolapse:
Moxibustion on Shen Que (CV8, Central Gate) acupoint, two moxa cones; this leads to recovery.
