Huangfu Mi stated: Some individuals experience tinnitus sounding like wind, accompanied by otorrhea (discharge from the ear). This is caused by prolonged sitting, excessive physical exertion, and irregular sexual activity, leading to rebellious Qi rushing to the ears. One should diligently consume light and good food, walk gradually, and regulate emotions and desires to achieve recovery. Cao She stated: For tinnitus with otorrhea, frequently consume cold food and walk.
Huangfu Mi stated: Some individuals suffer from eye pain as if pierced by needles. This is due to prolonged sitting, where heat rises and invades the Liver, subsequently assaulting both eyes. One should frequently consume cold food and wash the eyes with warm urine in the early morning. He also stated: For those with headache, stiff neck, and painful eyes, bathing with water will lead to recovery.
*Shi Hui Yi* records a formula for dispersing pathogenic factors to treat eye pain and headache:
Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (3 liang), Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) (2 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) (2 liang), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (3 liang), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus) (3 liang), Zhushu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (4 liang), Fuling (Poria) (4 liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (2 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (2 liang).
These nine substances are boiled in 1 dou 3 sheng of water until 3 sheng remain. The decoction is divided into three doses.
*Seng Shen Fang* records a Rin Ren Eye-Washing Decoction for treating redness and pain in the eyes:
Riren (Pruni Persica Semen) (20 seeds), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 liang), Ku Zhuye (Bambusa Leaves) (1 piece), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (1 liang).
These four substances are boiled in 3 sheng of water until 1.5 sheng remain. In one method, take 0.5 sheng; it can be used to wash the eyes three times a day, or six to seven times.
Huangfu Mi stated: Some individuals suffer from blindness or poor vision due to improper diet and living in a warm environment. By removing clothes, engaging in self-labor and bathing, and urging the consumption of frozen drinks and food, vision will clear up shortly.
*Shi Hui Yi* records a formula for dispersing pathogenic factors when heat rushes to the eyes causing blurred vision:
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (remove hairs), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Rihe (Pruni Persica Seed Kernel).
These four substances are taken in equal parts, crushed (sound 'fu'), chewed (sound 'ju', meaning to chew; sound 'shulun'), wrapped in cotton, placed in 5 sheng of pure wine, and boiled in a copper vessel until 2.5 sheng remain. Filter through cotton and wash the eyes, allowing the liquid to enter, twice daily.
*Bing Yuan Lun* stated: After sweating, if one feels cold, and after the heat has completely subsided, the cold qi remains. Cold attacks the Lung; the Lung governs Qi and opens into the nose. When cold stagnates and knots, Qi cannot circulate freely, resulting in nasal congestion.
Cao She stated: For foul odor from the nose, drink frozen beverages and wash with cold water.
Qin Chengzu stated: To treat residual heat after dispersion therapy, where lung cold causes nasal congestion, the Zhuyu Tang (Euodia Decoction) is suitable:
Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) (1 sheng), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 liang), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (1 liang), Zhushu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (1 liang), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (1 liang), Zhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) (1 liang).
These six substances are finely cut, boiled in 6 sheng of water until 2.5 sheng remain, and divided into two doses.
