According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases): "Xia'ma fistula" (Fistula resembling a toad, characterized by food/drink flowing into meridians, causing swelling, cold/heat, ulceration, and discharge of toad-like objects in urine) occurs when dietary substances flow into the meridians, condense to cause swelling accompanied by chills and fever, and subsequently ulcerate into a fistula. Upon taking medicine, an object is discharged with the urine, resembling a toad.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) records a prescription for Xia'ma fistula: On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, collect snake heads and wild boar fat, apply them to the water-worn garment (or affected area) as a poultice; this is excellent.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: "Wa fistula" (Fistula resembling a frog, caused by frog-toxic qi from environment/diet entering organs and meridians, discharging frog-like objects in urine) results from toxic vapors of frogs present in the living environment or diet entering the zang organs and flowing into the meridians. After taking medicine, the object discharged with urine resembles a frog.
The *Qianjin Fang* records a prescription for Wa fistula: Burn frogs found in the snake's belly to ash and apply it to the lesion.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: "She fistula" (Fistula resembling a snake, caused by snake-toxic qi entering organs and meridians, presenting with chills/fever, localized swelling, irregular discharge sites, ulceration, and discharge of snake-like objects in urine) arises when toxic vapors of snakes from the living environment or diet enter the zang organs and flow into the meridians. It presents with chills, fever, and condensed swelling; the site of discharge is indefinite, eventually ulcerating into a fistula. Upon taking medicine, an object is discharged with the urine, resembling a snake.
The *Qianjin Fang* records a prescription for She fistula: Mix ash from shed snake skin with pig lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month (La Yue) and apply it.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: "Bi fistula" (Fistula caused by Bi-toxic qi from environment/diet entering organs and meridians) initially appears like a jujube pit. It may persist for one hundred days or a full year, moving around without staying in one place, forming a pore where pus leaks and ulcerates.
The *Qianjin Fang* records a prescription for Bi fistula: Crush Gualu Gen (Trichosanthes root) and apply it until healed. Be careful with your diet.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: "Que fistula" (Fistula resembling a sparrow, caused by sparrow-toxic qi entering organs and meridians, presenting with irregular onset, ulceration, and discharge of sparrow-like objects in urine) results from toxic vapors of sparrows in the living environment or diet entering the zang organs and flowing into the meridians. The onset has no fixed location, eventually ulcerating into a fistula. Upon taking medicine, an object is discharged with the urine, resembling a sparrow.
The *Qianjin Fang* records a prescription for Que fistula: Mix ash from sow feces with pig lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month and apply it; the worm will be discharged resembling a sparrow.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: The appearance of "Shi [fistula/goiter]" (Hard, stone-like mass) begins with both ends hard like plum or cherry pits. Palpation reveals hardness like stone, accompanied by chills and fever. After the fever subsides, it ulcerates into a fistula.
The *Qianjin Fang* records a prescription for Shi fistula emerging from both ends, which is solid in texture and causes chills and fever: Use a large Pi needle (scalpel) to puncture the lesion. Mix two parts of powder from Niuzao Cao (Auricula Arctii Fructus / Burdock Fruit) with one chicken egg and apply as a poultice.
Another prescription: Crush Huai Zi (Sophora Seed) and mix with Jinghua Shui (well water drawn from the surface) to apply.
