*Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of Various Diseases) states: The syndrome of Yin swelling. This occurs when wind-heat pathogens invade the Kidney Meridian, flow into the external genitalia, and due to Kidney deficiency failing to disperse them, swelling results.

*Fan Wang Fang* (Formulas by Fan Wang) for treating sudden severe swelling of the external genitalia causing unbearable pain:
Immediately administer purgatives to induce profuse bowel movements; this is effective.
Another formula: Grind cuttlefish bone (Sepiae Endoconcha) into powder and apply as a dusting powder.
Another formula: Grind Cnidii Fructus (Shechuangzi) into powder, mix with egg yolk, and apply externally.

*Ge Shi Fang* (Formulas by Ge Hong) for treating sudden swelling of the glans penis with ulceration and discharge:
Boil Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai) thickly to extract juice, and soak the area using a tube.
Another formula: Boil Salix Matsudana leaves (Shuiyangye) thickly, and warm-soak the area using a tube.
Another formula: Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) [3 fen], Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) [3 fen], Adzuki Bean (Xiaodou) [1 fen].
Crush and sieve these three herbs, and apply the powder to the affected area.
Another formula: Mix Almond (Xingren) with egg white and apply.
Another formula: Char three grains of fermented soybean (Chidou), grind into powder, and apply.
Another formula: Apply white honey (Baimi) to the area.
Another formula: Char cow dung, grind into powder, mix with vinegar (Ku Jiu), and apply.
It also states: For sudden, unbearable swelling and pain of the penis:
Realgar (Xionghuang), Alum (Fanshi) [2 liang each], Licorice Root (Gancao) [3 chi long].
Boil in 2 dou of water until reduced to 2 sheng, and soak the area.
It also states: For sudden stabbing pain in the external genitalia accompanied by profuse sweating like rain:
Small Garlic (Xiaosuan) [1 sheng], Chinese Chive Root (Jiugen) [1 jin], Willow Root (Yangliugen) [1 jin].
Char these three herbs together, pour wine over them, and while hot, use the steam to fumigate the external genitalia. (This method is also found in *Qianjin Fang*.)

*Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) for treating swelling and pain of the external genitalia:
Crush Amaranth Root (Xiancaigen) and apply externally.
Another formula: Take Prunus Persica Seed (Taoren) powder, form into pills the size of a bullet, and take three doses with wine.
It also states: For pain of the Jade Stem (penis):
Licorice Root (Gancao), Rock Sugar (Shimi). Grind into powder, mix with milk, and wash the area.

*Longhua Fang* for treating swelling, ulceration, and necrosis of the glans penis:
Licorice Root (Gancao) [1 fen], Aconitum Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, alias of Aconiti Radix) [1 fen], Peony Root (Shaoyao) [1 fen], Patriniae Herba (Baijiang) [2 fen].
Cut these four herbs, boil in 4 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng, and wash the area three times daily.
For treating swelling of the glans penis with ulceration and yellow discharge:
Dry Ginger Powder (Ganjiangmo), crush and apply to the affected area. It will heal within two or three applications.

*Xinlu Danfang* for treating swelling and pain of the external genitalia:
Crush Prunus Persica Seed (Taoren) into a paste, mix with water and vinegar, apply to the area, and change frequently until healed.
Another formula: Grind Turnip Seeds and Roots (Manjingzi bing gen) into powder and apply as a poultice.

*Zhenzhong Fang* for treating male external genitalia swelling:
Take yellow earth from the stove hearth, mix with wine, apply to the area, and it will heal immediately. This is verified to be effective.
