The *De Fugui Fang* (Prescription for Obtaining Wealth and Nobility) states: When wishing to enter mountains, burn sheep horns while walking; tigers, wild wolves will all flee from people. (The *Ji Yan Fang* [Verified Prescriptions] contains similar remarks regarding cattle and sheep.)
Another prescription: Immortals entering mountains must avoid tigers and snakes; calling out their names makes them disappear. Tigers have the surname Huang and given name Zi Yi. If one sees a tiger, call out: "Huang Zi Yi," and the tiger will vanish and not be seen.
The *Zhen Zhong Fang* (Prescription in the Pillow) records: Laozi said: On the second day of the eleventh lunar month, collect grains, pound them, mix them together, and eat them, consuming one sheng per dose. Do not let others know. This ensures constant victory over tigers, wild wolves, insects, and snakes; they will naturally hide and retreat, bringing no harm.
The *De Fui Gui Fang* states: The character for snake is written as "Yi Fang" (宜方). If one mentally recites it, one will not see snakes. If one sees a snake, shouting "Yi Fang" makes it disappear.
The *Duan Ju Fang* (Short Drama Prescription) records: A prescription for entering mountain grasslands to avoid various snakes:
Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), Sheng She Xiang (Fresh Musk), Xiong Huang (Realgar).
Pound these three substances, place them in a small pouch, and carry it. Men wear it on the left, women on the right. Snakes will turn back and flee from people, daring not to approach. If bitten or invaded by snakes, this prescription can treat it, with excellent results. Current analysis: The *Fan Wang Fang* states: Use high-quality musk, place it in a tube, and carry it.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge's Prescription) records: A prescription for entering mountain grasslands to repel various snakes:
Use Bajiao (Star Anise) and Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), coarsely pounded. Place them in a triangular crimson silk pouch and wear it on the head. Snakes will dare not approach people.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Thousand Gold Prescriptions) records: A prescription for entering mountains to avoid various snakes:
Constantly burn sheep horns so that smoke emerges; snakes will then leave.
The *Qi Po Fang* (Chi Po's Prescription) records: A prescription for avoiding snakes:
One centipede (Wu Gong), place it in a tube and carry it.
[(Note) Current analysis: Tao Hongjing's commentary on the *Ben Cao* states: Tengshe (Flying Snake) travels in mist but is endangered by Langqu. The *Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing* states: Wu Gong (Centipede) is also known as Langqu.]
The *Ling Qi Fang* (Spiritual Wonder Prescription) records: Method for avoiding mosquitoes:

Another prescription: Place Changpu Hua (Acorus Flower) and its powder under the mat to drive away insects and lice.
Yet another prescription: Take a pinch of first snow (three fingers' worth) and throw it onto the sleeping mat. Do not let others know.
