Nourishes the Heart to clear heat from the Small Intestine.
(See formula in Heart Meridian Syndrome section)
This is a treatment method for nourishing the Heart and clearing the Ying (Nutritive) level.
(Self-made Formula)
Treats symptoms such as vomiting, coughing, hemoptysis, epistaxis, gingival bleeding, and lingual bleeding caused by the invasion of the Six Excesses (Liu Yin) on the upper body.
Trichosanthis Semen (Gualou Ren), stir-fried, 4 qian; Pumex (Haishi), 1 qian; Gardeniae Fructus Carbonis (Zhizi Tan), 3 qian; Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren), peeled and with kernels removed, 3 qian; Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), 2 qian; Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), stir-fried, 1 qian.
If due to Cold, add Canarium Fruit (Qingguo), 2 pieces; Lophatheri Herba (Zhuye), 20 leaves. If due to Summerheat, add Artemisiae Annuae Herba (Qinghao), 1 qian; fresh Nelumbinis Folium (He Ye), 1 piece. If due to Wind, add Raphani Fructus (Laifuzi), raw, 1 qian; Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), 1 qian. If due to Dampness, add Talcum (Huashi). If due to Dryness, add Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi) and Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong), each 3 qian.
(Self-made Formula)
Treats hematochezia and hematuria, bloody strangury (Xuelin), and maculae (Faquan). For the specific symptom of metrorrhagia (Xuebeng), one should employ methods to tonify blood and resolve stasis. Consulting gynecological texts on pregnancy and childbirth will reveal the appropriate treatments for various conditions.
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang), stir-fried with vinegar, 3 qian; Moutan Cortex (Mudanpi), 3 qian; Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Guishen), 3 qian; Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), 1 qian; Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen), 1 qian; Gardeniae Fructus (Jiaozhizi), charred, 3 qian.
If fresh Nelumbinis Folium (He Ye) is unavailable, decoct 1 jin of Nelumbinis Rhizoma (Ou) in water to substitute for water in decocting the herbs. (The use of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang) in this formula enters the Yangming Meridian to drive out stasis and purge heat; however, care must be taken not to let cold-natured drugs damage the blood. Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen) clears damp-heat fire, Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi) drains fire from the Upper and Middle Jiao, and Akebiae Caulis (Tongcao) promotes diuresis and clears heat.) This formula is suitable for early-stage diseases. Regarding hematuria, Zhang Zhongjing considered it a definitive sign of blood disease. It mostly originates from the residence of the Large Intestine. Add Succinum (Hupo), 1 qian; Talcum (Huashi), 3 qian to this formula. For bloody strangury (Xuelin), add Succinum (Hupo), 1 qian; Talcum (Huashi) and Diantherae Herba (Qumai), each 3 qian; remove Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin). For spontaneous bleeding from the tongue, add Polygoni Multiflori Caulis (Puhuang), stir-fried, 7 fen; Sepiae Endoconcha (Wuguyu), 1 qian; remove Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin) and decoct. For phlegm-blood entanglement, add Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia), 1 qian; Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (Chuanbei), 2 qian; Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Huajuhong), genuine, 1 qian. Maculae (Faquan) refers to blood emerging from hair follicles; Xijiao Dihuang Tang (Rhino Horn and Rehmannia Decoction) is indicated, and externally, Ash of Mugwort (Aihui) can be applied to the bleeding site.
