1. This compilation is specifically designed for beginners, selecting only the prescriptions from *Yi Fang Ji Jie* (Collection of Medical Prescriptions) for individual commentary, while excluding all other content.
2. This book records only one prescription with its discussion; comparing it with the original text makes the meaning clear. The indications and annotations are not recorded to maintain simplicity.
3. If one studies medicine without reading *Ling Shu* (Spiritual Pivot) and *Su Wen* (Basic Questions), one will not understand the meridians and cannot know the causes of disease; if one does not read *Shang Han Lun* (Treatise on Cold Damage) and *Jin Gui Yao Lue* (Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Cabinet), one cannot understand the principles of formulating prescriptions and thus has no basis for treatment; if one does not study the works of the Four Great Masters of Jin and Yuan, one cannot master the applications of tonifying, purging, warming, and cooling methods, and will fail to grasp flexibility in practice. The prescriptions selected in *Yi Fang Ji Jie* originally take Zhang Zhongjing and the Four Masters as their foundation. The remaining collected prescriptions are merely those of a few physicians such as Zhang Yuansu, Wang Haogu, Xu Shuci, Qian Yi, Yan Yonghe, and Tao Hua, and were not extensively gathered from various books. However, by mastering the purity of these and eliminating bias, one can extend knowledge through analogy and avoid major errors. Those with ambition who wish to advance further will find their own method of returning to simplicity after broad learning.
4. Fe Boxiong, acknowledging his inferior aptitude, dares not rashly discuss ancient masters with limited insight. Yet, to provide a balanced standard for beginners, I dare not shirk the blame for overstepping my bounds!

This prescription treats not only Liver and Kidney deficiency but is actually a formula that simultaneously treats the three Yin meridians (Liver, Spleen, Kidney). The cloying nature of Prepared Rehmannia Root tonifies Kidney Water, assisted by Alisma Rhizoma which drains turbid dampness from the Kidney; the warm and astringent properties of Cornus Fruit nourish the Liver Meridian, assisted by Moutan Cortex which clears and drains Liver Fire; the consolidating action of Dioscorea Rhizoma secures the Spleen Meridian, harmonized by Poria which leaches out Dampness from the Spleen. With only six herbs, it opens and closes broadly, treating the three Yin meridians simultaneously, truly serving as the model for tonifying formulas.

Fugui Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill with Cinnamon and Aconite) is the correct medicine for treating Mingmen (Gate of Life) Deficiency-Cold, and also an excellent method for "Guiding Dragon back to the Sea" (directing floating Yang downward). However, for conditions where deficient Yang floats upward and fire has no root, the pulse must be carefully examined: if the pulse is surging (Hong) but weak upon deep pressure; or if the Cun and Guan positions are surging while both Chi positions are distinctly deficient and fine, this formula is suitable. Otherwise, it is like carrying firewood to save a fire, inevitably leading to an uncontrollable blaze.
