Bai Mi (White Honey, 1 jin), Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger, 2 jin, juice extracted). First, weigh the copper cauldron and record its weight. Add the honey and ginger juice, simmer over a low fire until the ginger juice is completely evaporated, leaving only the honey with a weight of 1 jin, then stop. Take one pill the size of a jujube kernel by holding it in the mouth, three times a day.
This is a medicine for the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. Bai Mi is slippery and moistens the Lung dryness; Sheng Jiang is pungent and disperses Cold. Song Dynasty scholar Hong Mai suffered from phlegm disorders; in his later years, when symptoms recurred, superiors suggested using three walnuts and three slices of ginger, which yielded similar results.
Treats "Jin Ji" (Sinew Extremity) caused by excessive labor leading to depletion of fluids in the sinews of the four limbs, frequent muscle spasms, pain in the nails, and inability to stand for long periods ("Jin Ji" refers to the Liver governing the sinews; Jin Ji is one of the Six Extremities. The Classics state: Yang Qi nourishes the spirit when refined and the sinews when soft. Overwork of sinews and bones depletes fluids, failing to nourish them, resulting in stiffness and frequent spasms).
Zhu Gao (Pork Lard), Sheng Jiang Juice (2 sheng, reduced to 3 sheng, then add Jiu/Wine), Jiu (Wine, 5 he). Divide into three doses.
This is a medicine for the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. When fluids are exhausted and sinews are withered, herbal medicines alone cannot produce immediate effects. Zhu Gao is lubricating and nourishes the sinews; Sheng Jiang Juice is pungent and moistens dryness; Jiu harmonizes blood and has a nature that promotes circulation, allowing the medicinal effect to easily reach the four limbs.
If this formula excludes Sheng Jiang Juice and adds human hair (Luan Fa) for decoction, once the hair dissolves, the medicine is ready, named Zhu Gao Fa Jian (Cinnamon Twig and Human Hair Decoction - *Note: Text says Zhu Gao Fa Jian*): Zhang Zhongjing stated it treats various types of Jaundice, causing the pathogen to exit via urination. This formula excludes...

Treats postpartum constipation. (Xu Shuwei said: Women have three types of postpartum illnesses: Yu Mao leads to sweating, sweating leads to constipation, thus difficult to use...)
Da Ma Ren (Hemp Seed), Zi Su Zi (Perilla Fruit), equal parts. Wash clean, grind together. Add water, grind again, extract the juice, and cook porridge to consume.
This is a medicine for the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. Da Ma Ren is the primary herb for the Yangming meridian, lubricating the intestines, moistening dryness, promoting bowel movements, and dispelling wind; Zi Su Zi also enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian, moistening the lungs, unblocking the intestines, harmonizing blood, and directing Qi downward. Its action is gentle rather than harsh, slow yet effective, making it suitable for the elderly and postpartum women with insufficient Qi and Blood. (Xu Shuwei said: An eighty-four-year-old woman suddenly suffered from abdominal pain, headache, nausea, and loss of appetite. Physicians discussed tonifying the Spleen, treating wind, and clearing the head and eyes. Although her symptoms improved after taking medicine, she could not eat at all, causing great anxiety among her family. I analyzed that the previous prescriptions were incorrect; this is Wind Constipation in the elderly, with stagnation in the Zang-Fu organs accumulating in the chest, causing abdominal distension, nausea, and anorexia. When it rises to the vertex, it causes headache.)
