Gancao (Zhi, San Liang) [Liquorice Radix et Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Melle, 3 liang] Ganjiang (San Liang, Qiangren Ke Si Liang) [Zingiberis Rhizoma, 3 liang; for robust individuals, up to 4 liang] Fuzi (Da Zhe Yi Mei, Sheng Yong, Qu Pi, Po Ba Pian) [Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, one large piece, used raw, skin removed, broken into eight pieces] The above three ingredients are boiled in three sheng of water until reduced to one sheng and two he, the dregs are strained off, and the liquid is divided into two doses taken warm. Modifications: If the face appears red, add nine stalks of Congbai [Allii Tuberosi Bulbus], as its pungent flavor helps to unblock Yang Qi. If there is abdominal pain, remove Congbai and add Shaoyao (Er Liang) [Paeoniae Radix Alba, 2 liang]; Shaoyao's sour flavor helps to resolve stagnation and relieve abdominal pain caused by blocked Qi. If there is vomiting, add Shengjiang (Er Liang) [Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 2 liang]; its pungency disperses the pathogen, addressing vomiting caused by stagnant Qi. If there is a sore throat, remove Shaoyao and add Jiegeng (Yi Liang) [Platycodonis Radix, 1 liang]; if there is a sensation of obstruction in the throat, Jiegeng can disperse the accumulation. If diarrhea stops but the pulse remains imperceptible, remove Jiegeng and add Renshen (Yi Ge) [Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, one piece]; cessation of diarrhea with an absent pulse indicates loss of blood/fluids, so Renshen is added to tonify. As stated in the classics: "A faint pulse with diarrhea indicates loss of blood/fluids; Sini Jia Renshen Tang should be administered." Only when the pulse and symptoms correspond appropriately with the formula should it be taken.
Danggui (San Liang, Xin Wen) [Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 liang, Pungent-Warm] Guizhi (San Liang, Xin Re) [Cinnamomi Ramulus, 3 liang, Pungent-Hot] Shaoyao (San Liang, Suan Xian) [Paeoniae Radix Alba, 3 liang, Sour-Salty] Xixin (Er Liang, Xin Re) [Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang, Pungent-Hot] Dazao (Er Shi Wu Ge) [Jujubae Fructus, 25 pieces] Gancao (Er Liang, Zhi, Gan Ping) [Liquorice Radix et Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Melle, 2 liang, Sweet-Flat] Tongcao (Er Liang, Gan Ping) [Tetrapanacis Medulla, 2 liang, Sweet-Flat] The above seven ingredients are boiled in eight sheng of water until reduced to three sheng, the dregs are strained off, and one sheng is taken warm per dose, three times daily.

Each dose consists of 3–5 pills up to 10–20 pills, taken with decoction of gold and silver.
Xuduan (Jiu Jin) [Dipsaci Radix, soaked in wine] Chuanxiong [Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma] Danggui (Jiu Jin) [Angelicae Sinensis Radix, soaked in wine] Banxia (Jiang Zhi) [Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Zingibere et Alumine, processed with ginger] Juhong [Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum] Ganjiang (Pao, Ge Yi Liang) [Zingiberis Rhizoma, roasted, each 1 liang] Guixin [Cinnamomi Cortex] Gancao (Zhi, Ge Ban Liang) [Liquorice Radix et Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Melle, prepared, each half liang] The above are made into a fine powder, formed into honey pills the size of tung tree seeds. Each dose is 100 pills, taken with warm water.
