Whenever treating heat-type dysentery, use one sheng of Wumei (Mume Fruit), and one jin of Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) that is golden in color. Grind into powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of a wutong seed. Take twenty pills per dose, three times during the day and twice at night.
For chronic dysentery persisting for thirty years, take Chisongpi (Red Pine Bark), remove the upper grayish-white bark, cut into pieces to obtain one dou, grind into a powder. Mix with one sheng of millet porridge, take three times daily; recovery occurs within one hundred days.
For bloody dysentery, occurring seventy to eighty or more times day and night, use four liang each of Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) and Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark). Coarsely crush, soak in three sheng of strong vinegar, decoct to obtain one and a half sheng of liquid, divide into two doses.
For red-and-white dysentery with tenesmus and stagnation, take a piece of tangled hair the size of an egg, burn to ash, take with water. No more than three doses are needed.
For cold dysentery with twisting pain below the umbilicus, use ten liang each of Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum) and Ganjiang (Dried Ginger). Form pills the size of a pea. Take ten pills per dose, three times daily, increasing gradually to twenty pills.
For acute sudden dysentery, use five liang of Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) and one jin of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger). Coarsely crush, add five sheng of water, decoct to obtain one sheng, take in one dose. If symptoms do not cease, administer again.
For long-standing cold white dysentery, occurring fifty to sixty times day and night, with unbearable abdominal pain, use five sheng of high-quality Jiuqu (Medicated Leaven). Lightly roast until fragrant. Mix one sheng of the medicated leaven powder with warm clear wine. Take on an empty stomach in one dose. Take three times daily. When it is time to eat, crush one sheng of garlic, cook thoroughly, mix with ginger and pepper, and consume as usual food. Only consume a small amount of other foods. When hungry, resume eating the medicated leaven wine as before. Recovery will occur within two days.
For long-standing cold causing intermittent dysentery or normal bowel movements, but suffering from coldness in the waist and abdomen, use three sheng of fresh Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper). Soak overnight in vinegar. Mix with three sheng of Jiuqu (Medicated Leaven) and one sheng of the soaked pepper. Stir tightly and boil into a porridge. Take in one dose on an empty stomach. Add scallion, fermented soybean, and salt according to taste. If not cured, prepare again until cured. Do not exceed three sheng of pepper.
For malaria occurring every other day or at night, burn the head hairs of a black ox to ash. Take one fangcun bi (a square inch measure) with wine, three times daily.
Another prescription: For malaria regardless of duration, take one and a half sheng of urine and three spoons of honey. Boil together for three boils. Take in one dose. Administer at dawn on the day of each attack. Do not eat from the onset of the disease.
For all types of malaria, regardless of duration, lie supine. Measure the midpoint between the breasts with a thread, bend it, and measure downwards from the nipple to determine the moxibustion length based on the patient's age. Moxa on the left for males, right for females.

If untreated, death occurs within one hundred days. Use two jin of Niuxi (Achyranthes Root). Coarsely crush, sun-dry, and soak in one sheng of wine. Seal the air tight, decoct to reduce by half. Take half a sheng. One dose causes vomiting of retained food; this is highly effective.
Another case of sudden violent abdominal mass: Take Shanglu (Phytolacca Radix), crush and steam it. Place new cloth on the abdomen, spread the medicine on the cloth, cover with clothing. Replace when cool.
For any undigested food, take residues of similar food items, burn to powder, take one fangcun bi with wine. Vomiting retained food leads to cure. For example, if peach digestion fails, and peaches are unavailable, or sudden indigestion threatens to form a jia accumulation, decoct Aiye (Artemisia Leaf) juice until thick like maltose. Take half a sheng as one dose. Facilitate bowel movement and vomiting to expel retained food; this is excellent.
