Formula for Treating Malignant Qi and Toxic Swelling:
Agarwood (Chenxiang), Clove (Dingxiang), Musk (Shexiang) (add after decoction is ready), Frankincense (Xunluxiang), and Blue Wood Fragrance (Qingmuxiang) (each 1 liang).
Take the above five herbs, cut them, add five sheng of water, and boil until two sheng remain. Divide into three doses. If not cured, prepare another batch to take. Apply the dregs of the decoction thinly onto the swelling.
Ointment Formula for Treating Ding Carbuncle (Ling Ju):
Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui), Szechuan Lovage Rhizome (Xiong), Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi), Pine Resin (Songzhi), Aconite Root (Wutou) (each 2 liang), Croton Seed (Badou) (30 seeds, skin removed), and Lard (Zhuzhi) (3 sheng).
Take the above seven ingredients, cut them, place them in the ointment base, and simmer over a gentle fire for three boils. Add pine resin and melt it completely until well combined. Strain through silk cloth to remove dregs. Apply the ointment on cotton wadding to puncture the tip of the Ding carbuncle. Puncture according to the depth of the disease; pus will discharge naturally, and once foul flesh is completely removed, healthy flesh will grow. Do not puncture superficial sores; apply to the sore three times daily, stopping when foul flesh is gone.
Universal Formula for Dry Abscesses and All Sores/Ulcers:
Realgar (Xionghuang), Orpiment (Cihuang), Sulfur (Huang), Calcined Alum (Baijian - burned), Lead White (Hufen), Pine Resin (Songzhi) (each 2 liang), Mercury (Shuiyin) (3 liang).
Grind the above seven ingredients finely into powder until the mercury disappears (forms an amalgam). Incorporate this mixture into the previous ointment base. Stir with ten sinew strands for thousands of turns. Store cool and tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
Veratrum Nigrum (Lilu), Cistanche Root (Loulu), Wild Wolf's Tooth (Yelangya), Rumex Root (Yangti Gen), Celosia Seed (Qingxiang), Sanguisorba Root (Diyu), Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui), Knotgrass Herb (Jixu), and unknown herb Ru (Rucu) (each 2 liang); White Peony Root (Bailian), Cnidium Fruit (Shechuangzi) (each 1.5 liang).
Pound and sieve the above eleven herbs into a powder. Soak in vinegar overnight. Then decoct with four sheng of prepared lard using a method involving three cycles of heating and cooling (or boiling). Strain off the dregs when the ointment is formed. Continue simmering over extremely low heat. Apply this to all malignant sores, tinea, carbuncles, and scabies. Avoid contact with eyes and genitals. The mineral components must be ground to a fine powder and mixed into the ointment.
To solidify the ointment, still use the Foul Flesh-Expelling Powder:
Sulfur (Huanghuang), Realgar (Xionghuang), Orpiment (Cihuang), Lacquer Head (Qitou - likely referring to lacquer tree parts or specific preparation), Ru Grass (Rucu), Musk (Shexiang), Calcined Alum (Fanshi - burned, each half liang), and Ma Chi Fanshi (burned, ratio/amount specified as 'dui san fen').
Grind the above seven ingredients finely into a powder and apply externally to expel all foul flesh. (Note: *Qianjin Fang* also includes Cinnabar 0.5 liang.)
