Discussion states: Minerals, metals, herbs, and plants have their own records in the *Shennong Bencao Jing* (Divine Farmer's Materia Medica), but the categories and details are numerous and complex, not easily understood by those with shallow learning and limited knowledge. Suddenly facing urgent matters, how can one spare time to browse and investigate? Therefore, these are recorded in this volume and attached to the prescriptions, so that loyal ministers and filial sons can see them at a glance in moments of haste and urgency. Thus, they are recorded and placed at the beginning of the chapter.
